I make video games

I finished "Happiness!" a week or two back. Can't remember. I may have written about it already, but I'll write about it again anyway. Actually, I'll just link it:

Now I have to figure out what to do with it. Fine tune it for exe export and try to get it through Steam Greenlight, try to sell it for $4.99? Leave it as html5 and host it on a site while having ad banners up? I'll be posting the majority of the chiptune soundtrack on YouTube this week and uploading the OST for probably $2.99 or something on my Bandcamp page. I need to figure out what to do with it, and figure out how to market it efficiently. Tom gave me some reading he got from his classes on marketing and social networking from a business standpoint, so I'll brush up on that. Admittedly, I hate marketing things. Not because I'm a hipster hippy "corporations are EVIL maaan" type, but mostly because I'm just not good at it. I don't know what I'm doing. But that's why we study, why we learn, right?

I've already begun a good deal of work on my next game. And by "my" next game, I mean "our" next game. I've got a small team now. Tom and I are working together closely on the story, which is a fun series of adventures that is sort of an Indiana Jones meets Final Fantasy 6 meets Secret of Evermore. I've got Chris working on the music with me again. This time around we're going to be exploring leitmotifs and character specific themes, try to tell you who the characters are and what events are transpiring through the score. Should be exciting. My brother Jess will hopefully be able to add some concept pieces to the game. Then there's Kevin, who I brainstorm and work out game mechanics with, trying to make the game actually fun to play. I'll of course be handling the brunt of the graphics and programming. It's quite exciting though, and I've already got a good chunk of the framework built for the game. It's name is "Revahlen", named for the continent the game takes place on.

I'm excited for what's to come. Maybe I'll start a blog dedicated to the development of the game.
