When you were in high school...
1. Who were your best friends?
I had lots of friends. My best friends were probably Mike Johnson, Kim O'Malley & Mindi MacLeish. But there was also Amber Bylewski, Jo, Emily, Pat, Jacquie, Amber Jacobs, Kathy Kinnamon, etc...
2.What sports did you play?
I played basketball my freshman year. But I hated it! Not the sport, I don't mind playing basketball. I hated the fact that unless you were cool and popular, you just some freak on the team. It was all popular kids and they were very cliquey.
3. What kind of car did you drive?
1994 Dodge Grand Caravan. It was blue with the woody stripe.
4. It's Friday night, where are you?
Work, Home, or doing something with friends. Wasn't really a social butterfly. Never went to drinking parties or anything crazy. I did smoke a decent amount of weed for a while - but that was usually on lunch break - lol. A lot of weekends I either had a friend over or stayed by a friend's house.
5. Were you a party animal?
lol - see above answer
6. Were you considered a flirt?
Not at all. I didn't even date until right before I graduated. I found out after high school that most of the guys I liked also liked me - but they thought I didn't like them. I guess I put off a vibe like that.
7. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir?
I was in band from 5th grade on. I played bass clarinet until 7th grade. Then I switched to oboe. In high school I played oboe in band and the flute for pep band and marching. I also was in flags my junior & senior year.
8. Were you a nerd?
Not really. I was smart. But not really nerdy I don't think.
9. Did you get suspended/expelled?
no. lots of detentions for being tardy all the time
10. Can you sing the fight song?
not anymore
11. Who was your favorite teacher?
"T" or Mr. Tentis - band director
13.What was your school's full name?
Well it said "Portage Turner High School" on the side of the building, but everywhere else and on all official documents, it is just "Portage High School".
14. School mascot?
Used to be an Indian Warrior - now it's a knight. Don't get me started on politically correct bullshit. I am part Indian. I know a lot of Indians. They don't care. Most of the tribes are honored. It was just a warriorhead - no spears or scalping..... arg. Michicot got to keep theirs because the Michicot tribe wrote a letter saying they didn't want them to get rid of the mascot - they were honored to have them use it. Now the mascot is stupid. We're the Portage Knights or Crusaders. Not warriors...... arg again.
15. Did you go to Prom?
yeah. with a couple of friends. it was a good time i guess. nothing thrilling
16. If you could go back and do it over, would you?
no. it wasn't perfect - but it could have been much worse. I had friends - and I still talk to several of them.
17. What do you remember most about graduation?
Just that I went. I graduated in January but went back for the ceremony. Gladys and Virgil made an appearance I think. Noone else from my family came cause they weren't talking to me. Ross and his mom came. Kris (his mom) did my hair. That's about it.
Last year my brother Nick graduated and Ken (kinda like my dad) looked at me and said "how come I don't remember your graduation" to which i somewhat coldy replied "cause you weren't there". We are actually very very close again. But there is still some resentment there....
18. Where were you on senior skip day?
Did we have one? As I mentioned- I graduated a semester early. So if it was in the spring I wasn't there. If it was in the fall - I was probably in class. I think I remember something about them saying if we skipped they wouldn't let us graduate. Prolly an idle threat though.
19. Did you have a job your senior year?
I worked at Hardees.
20. Where did you go most often for lunch?
A pretty even split between at school (we had about the best school lunch program ever!!!), Culver's, and the gas station.
21. Have you gained weight since then?
lots. I was 165 (pretty skinny for my height of 6'1") and now I'm 235. Ick. I was almost to 260 about 2 years ago. Trying to get down to 170ish. I hate being fat! And I eat soooo much less that I used to. Ick again.
22. What did you do after graduation?
Went to Concordia for a couple of months. Dropped out. Moved in with Ross and his parents.

January 2000
24. Who was your Senior prom date?
They have junior prom around here. So stupid. It should be senior prom. Oh well. Just went with friends.
25. Are you going to your 10 year reunion?
Maybe. Well, probably. But just to see a few people. Most of my friends were a grade below me. It should be a fairly good time though. If my friends show up.
