Ryo Nishikido and Yui Aragaki take on the challenge of raising children in new drama

A modern take on women vs men sees Ryo Nishikido (NEWS/Kanjani8) and actress Yui Aragaki raising children in their upcoming drama, it was revealed on May 26, reports Asahi Shimbun and Model Press.

The love-comedy “全開ガール (Zenkai Girl)” follows a career-focussed newcomer lawyer Wakaba Ayukawa (Aragaki) who gets ordered to look after her boss’s daughter.  At the kindergarten, Ayukawa meets someone she loathes - softly spoken Souta Yamada (Nishikido), who in her eyes has no brains, no money, and no career promises.  Nevertheless, she starts to learn about child-raising and love.

It has been reported producers of the new drama had said they wanted to create something reflecting today’s society of more softly-spoken men and strong women.  By creating characters almost at the extreme of each side, the producers hope to show the relationship between men and women today, and what it means to fall in love.  The producers had added watching how the characters interact with kids was another highlight of the show.

Nishikido is still working on his drama “犬を飼うということ (Inu wo kau to iu koto)” where he plays a father.  It has been reported his new role will be a change, and he will be a polite cook and divorced man.

“I’m nervous because this is my first Monday night drama and love story.  I want to do my best to make this a drama one where people can’t wait until Monday night comes around again,” he said.

“Zenkai Girl” will go on air in Japan in July.
