Title: Jaded By You

Pairings: Akame, Kurosawa Akihiko/Ishida Yuya & a brief mention of Akihiko/Anego

Summary: Kame has a crush on Jin’s younger brother Akihiko… or it’s just what Jin thinks... and Kame is getting tired of Jin’s numerous accusations.

Notes: Alternate Universe where Jin is the big boss and Kame is an accomplished but a lowly employee.

Chapter Nine

Monday came and Kame was not so pleased with how things were going. He begrudgingly moved as he prepared for work. He left home a little after seven; his urge to use the excuse of accidentally leaving his passport behind became more apparent as soon as he got out of the door. He shook those feelings and braced himself to go to work.

‘Must be professional, must be curt, and must be polite to the big boss.’ Those words became his mantra as he took the subway to work.

He sighed as he reached their building. His sigh grew even heavier as he rode the elevator.

“You look worried.” Someone commented from his back.

Kame turned and sighed even more when he saw Akihiko. See how he’s been out of it? He didn’t even notice his friend riding the same elevator.  “Of course I would be.” He sighed again.

Akihiko grinned. “Stop sighing.”

“I can’t help it if I do!” the smaller man snapped.

“Shhh.” Akihiko gestured at the people they’re currently sharing the lift. “You’re too loud.”

Kame moaned as he banged his head to the elevator's wall and Akihiko’s amusement grew. It was clear how Kame didn’t want to engage in any conversation right now.

The people riding the elevator thinned out by the time they reached the 20th floor and by the 25th floor, only Kame and Akihiko rode the elevator.

“Don’t forget to bring souvenirs for me and Yuya, okay?”

“Hn.” Was Kame’s reply.

The elevator’s bell dinged and opened at the 30th floor. Akihiko waved goodbye at Kame who just nodded in response.

Aki grinned as the elevator doors closed. He rushed to his office and saw Yuya already sitting on his desk.

“Good morning!” he brightly greeted his assistant.

“Morning.” Yuya greeted back with a soft smile.

“I’ll be in my office.”

“Did... you want coffee?” Yuya almost whispered his offer. “Um... did you want coffee?” he said louder this time. “Kamenashi-senpai... he um... he taught me how you want your coffee done.”

Akihiko smiled. “Sure.”

“Uh... okay. I’ll... make it... now then.” Yuya scrambled to get to the coffee machine.

Akihiko’s eyes fondly followed Yuya’s hurried figure before opening the door to his office and dropping his suitcase on the table. He grabbed the cordless phone and dialed his aniki’s personal extension number.

“Hn.” He heard his brother reply.

“Good morning to you too!” Aki enthusiastically answered back.

“What do you want now?”

“Is it so weird for me to call you before your trip?”

“Yes.” Jin responded, unpleased with Aki’s small talk. “I have some paper works to do before we leave for the airport.”

“You work too hard, aniki.” The younger Akanishi commented. “I hate seeing you this tied up to work.”

“Can you just get to the point?” Jin growled. “You know how I hate chitchatting.”

“I just...” Akihiko paused. He didn’t want to sound too worried. “Just... have a safe flight, okay?” he was about to end the conversation when he heard his brother talking apologetically.

“Aki? I’m sorry... I forgot... you don’t like flying after...” After Anego... Jin’s conscience picked on him. “Don’t worry, we’ll be completely safe. After all, it’s Shinkai-kun1 who’s flying us to Hawaii.” He said, referring to their family’s longtime pilot.

“Ah... then I’m fine with you flying to Hawaii.” Aki gratefully said. “Don’t bully my friend too much while you’re in Hawaii, okay? He... he had to cancel his plans to come with you to this big meeting.”

“Hn.” Jin was back to monosyllabic replies. “Is that all you wanted to say?”

“Yeah.” Aki replied and said his goodbyes.

Jin exhaled noisily as he placed down the phone’s receiver. A little after, he could hear someone knocking on the door. “Come in.” he called out and rubbed his forehead in irritation.

Kamenashi came in with a cup of what smells like coffee. “Good morning.” His brand new assistant said as he placed the cup of coffee on Jin’s table.

“Thanks.” Jin absently replied.

“Is there anything you want done before we leave?”

“No. I’ll be done in a couple of minutes. Just wait for me outside.”

Kame nodded and left the enclosed office. He didn’t notice the big smile pasted on his boss’ face as the latter sipped the coffee he prepared.

As soon as he closed the office door, Kame sighed and waited patiently for Jin to finish whatever he was doing in the office. To pass time, he checked his phone and saw that he got one voice message.

“Niichan? I guess you’re working already...”

Kame smiled, it was his baby brother Yuuki.

“I evaded the doctors and nurses so I could call you. They didn’t want me to stand up longer than necessary but it’s driving me crazy to just lay down on the hospital bed!”

Kame can picture a pout forming on the boy’s beautiful face now.

“Anyway, Kaachan told me you were going to Hawaii for three days and couldn’t come back here in Fukuoka in time for my birthday... so I’m expecting you to bring me lots and lots of souvenirs from Hawaii, okay?”

Kame grinned. His younger brother sure is a spoiled kid.

“They’ll discharge me tomorrow. They said I should take it easy and not put pressure on my legs and right arm. Have I ever told you how I hate having fractures? Well, I do. I hate it! At this rate, coach will probably choose another player to be the pitcher.”

From the background, Kame could hear running motions and he heard Yuuki softly cursing under his breath.

“Crap, they found me! I’ve got to go! Have a safe trip Niichan and don’t forget my birthday gift along with lots of souvenirs!”

The call was promptly cut off, not until he heard someone shouting, probably the nurse. “Kamenashi, you hardheaded kid!”

Kame shook his head in amusement as he deleted the voice mail. He needs to call his brother and teach him not to overextend himself. Before he could call out though, he felt a piercing gaze on his direction and found Akanishi Jin glaring at him.

“Are you done?”

Kame felt the urge to run away, but he knows he can’t. “Yes.”

“Then let’s go.”

Kame nodded and followed his boss out.

-----

『1』 Shinkai Hajime is Kimutaku’s role in Good Luck!!

-----

A/N: Remember how Mary-san loved Kame’s way of preparing her coffee? Aki loves it that way also but I don’t think I mentioned it anywhere and now Jin too, but he’s not too honest with that fact. Nyahahaha~ can you tell I’m going crazy with the possibilities of this story? XD

Um... not much development in the story but at least the reason why Kame was hesitant to leave Japan was revealed, right? What else... Yuuki is Yuuki in Yuuki. Did that sentence make sense? I initially wanted him to have the same illness as the Yuuki in the drama but I don’t want to kill anymore of my characters so I didn’t make his condition bad.
