Chapter Ten

Hayato growled.

Yuya and Miroku are having waaaay too much fun with surfing.

“Niichan?” Ryuu worriedly asked. “Are you okay?”

“Do you think I am?” Hayato responded sarcastically.

“I’m just asking so stop snapping at me.”

Hayato exhaled noisily. “Look Ryuu, don’t talk to me. I’m in a bad mood.”

“Yeah, I figured. Aren’t you always?” Ryuu replied.

“Shut up!” Hayato had the urge to smack his younger twin but he knew better. Instead, he just walked away.

“Where are you going? It’s almost lunch time!” Ryuu called out.

“I’m just gonna explore the beach. I’ll be back in no time.”

Ryuu hopelessly followed his older twin’s figure.

“Ryuu-niichan, where’s Hayato-niichan?” Yuu asked. “He said he’ll be helping us out with the sand castles.” The young boy pouted.

“I’m still here, aren’t i?” Ryuu said to console the child. “I’ll help you with the sandcastles.”

“Really?”

Ryuu nodded. “Really.” He took the buckets and shovels from Yuzu.

“What are you doing?” Miroku inquired, walking towards the cousins.

“Hi Miroku-niichan.” Yuzu greeted. “We’re doing sandcastles. Wanna help out?”

Miroku nodded. “Sure! I love sand castles!” he turned to the direction of Yuya who was still surfing. “Oi! We’re making sandcastles! Wanna join?”

Yuya didn’t answer but he went back to the shore. “Huh?”

“I said we’re making sandcastles! Or anything we can do using the sand.”

Yuya didn’t answer but he went back to the shore. “Huh?”

“I said we’re making sandcastles! Or anything we can do using the sand.” There was a glint of mischievousness in Miroku’s eyes. “Say… race you to make a hippo?”

“You’re on!” Yuya competitively said and grabbed a shovel. “What do I get if I win?”

“Anything! That goes for me too!” he said and turned to Ryuu. “Be the judge?”

Ryuu nodded while the two kids grinned.

Miroku and Yuya started to do the task while Ryuu, Yuu and Yuzu stared amazingly at the two competing friends.

-----

“Stupid Yuya!” Hayato muttered while walking along the shores. He glanced at his wristwatch. ‘Damn, time flies when you’re bored.’ He thought and paused. ‘Or is it when you’re enjoying yourself? Damn, I don’t know anymore!’ he started walking back to where the others were.

What he saw next was a scene that irritated him to no end… Miroku kissing Yuya on the cheek with Ryuu laughing while covering the eyes of their two younger cousins.

With his instincts guiding him, Hayato yanked Yuya away from Miroku.

“Ouch!” Yuya yelled. “What are you doing?” he was being dragged away from where Miroku, Ryuu and the kids were. “Hayato!” he screeched.

“Shut up, okay?” Hayato grumpily replied. “We’re just taking a walk.”

“Well, I don’t want to do one with you!” he struggled to get of Hayato’s hold. “Hayato, please!”

Hayato made sure they were far from where the others before letting go of Yuya’s arm.

-----

“What just happened?” Miroku said, wondering.

“Why? What happened?” Yuya and Yuzu both asked while trying to remove Ryuu’s hand from their line of vision.

“It was magic!” Ryuu removed his ha and smiled cutely at the two kids. “Miroku here magic’d your Yuya-niichan away.” He stared warningly at Miroku not to say anything. “Come on. Let’s go back to the inn. I’m sure dad and ojichan are wondering where we are.”

Mentioning both their favorite uncles, the two kids pulled Ryuu to the direction of the house.

“Miroku-niichan, come!” Yuzu called out.

-----

Yuya stared at Hayato, upset that the other was targeting him again. “What the hell is wrong with you? What do you have against me that you keep on making my life hell?”

“I’m not!” Hayato argued.

“Then why are you doing this to me?”

“I don’t want you being chummy with Miroku.”

“It’s not your business if I want to be chummy with him. He’s my best friend, for goodness sake!”

“Well, I don’t want you to!”

Yuya harrumphed, “I don’t see any reason why you’re interfering!”

“So you like him? Is that it?”

“What?”

“You like him… maybe even love him! That’s why you don’t want me interfering!”

Yuya sighed. “No sense in talking to you.” He tried to walk back but Hayato stopped him.

“Here, I hope this is enough reason why I keep on interfering.” Hayato captured Yuya’s lips in an almost brutal and awkward kiss.

It took Yuya a few seconds to digest what just happened.

When it did, he immediately pulled back from Hayato and delivered a slap to his handsome face. “Damn you! There’s only so much that you can do and not get into my nerves!” Another slap. “And this is definitely one of your biggest offenses towards me! Don’t ever come near me or I’ll tell Uncle Pi, Uncle Hiro and your parents… what you just did!” and then he turned away, intent on getting away from Hayato.

Hayato nursed his aching cheeks. “Damn it!”
