Notes: Alternate Universe where Jin is the big boss and Kame is an accomplished but a lowly employee.
Summary: Kame has a crush on Jin’s younger brother Akihiko… or it’s just what Jin thinks... and Kame is getting tired of Jin’s numerous accusations.
Chapter Fourteen
In the restaurant, Ryo was staring Jin down as soon as they were seated.
Jin, for most part, felt amused at Ryo’s behavior. ‘Just who is Kame to Nishikido and Uchi anyway?’ He then wondered.
“I can’t believe Kame actually decided to work for your company.” Ryo commented after long minutes of silence.
“What do you mean?” Jin asked coolly.
“It was because of your bank that their family business got ruined.”
“HA?”
Ryo raised an eyebrow. “So you don’t know?”
“What don’t I know?” Jin wished that he didn’t sound like a parrot in front of Ryo, but he doesn’t really understand what Ryo meant by that.
Ryo only smirked as his reply and it irritated Jin a little.
“How much are you paying him?” Ryo suddenly asked.
“It is none of your business how much I pay my employees, partner.” Jin gritted his teeth.
“I want Kame out of your company and into mine. His talents are wasted on your company.”
“Well sorry because I hired him first.” Jin offhandedly said. “I’m not about to let go of someone so good at what he does without a fight.” He raised an eyebrow at Nishikido. “I don’t know what you are to him and his past, but I’m pretty much sure Kame will not be that willing to transfer to your company. Especially when his first choice of company to work with was mine.”
Ryo suddenly lurched forward, grabbing Jin by his necktie. “You asshole. Do as I say or I’ll break the deal off!”
“Break what deal off?” Kame asked with a tight lip smile on his face.
Uchi too, didn’t look amused at Ryo’s behavior. Nor did the scene he and Kame stumbled upon. “Ryo?” He questioned.
Ryo released his hold on Jin’s necktie. Under the furious glares by Uchi and Kame, he tried to smooth Jin’s wrinkled tie. “Sit down. I’m hungry.” He ordered at the two glaring men.
Kame raised an eyebrow and decided to let the scene go. He gestured for Uchi to sit down before him. “I’m just going to the john first.” He said, excusing himself.
“Kame-chan!” Ryo stood up hastily and followed the younger man.
Uchi and Jin were left alone with an awkward pause.
Soon, silence followed suit.
“Um... so...” Uchi started when grew uncomfortable with the silence. “How long have Kame been working for your company?”
“Two years.” Jin answered. “But I just recently transferred him to my office. He was with our Marketing department prior to becoming my assistant.”
Uchi nodded his understanding. “Thank you for guiding and taking good care of Kamenashi-kun.” He smiled.
“What is your relationship with him?” Jin suddenly asked. “I’m just-- wondering. Nishikido-san was a bit forceful in trying to pirate my employee to your side.”
“Ah. I’m sorry if my boss acted that way. Ryo, Kamenashi-kun and I are childhood friends. We were neighbors until...”
“Until something about the banks that Akanishi Holdings manages somehow ruined the Kamenashi family business.” Jin took a sip from the glass of water the waiter left for them to drink until their order arrived. “Nishikido was hinting something about it but wasn’t really clear on it. Can you further elaborate on it?”
“You can ask Kame-chan about it.” Uchi shrugged. “Though I am not sure if he will answer you.”
“Why?” Jin raised an eyebrow as he questioned the man.
“Because that’s just not the man Kame is.” Uchi smiled with that thought. “If you don’t mind, please do not ask him about it.”
Uchi worded his request politely and civilly but Jin couldn’t deny the fact that there was enough command in it for him to comply with it.
For now, at least.
Jin nodded his understanding.
Finding nothing more to talk about, the two settled for silence.

“Kame~! Wait up!” Ryo rushed to the younger man’s side.
“What is it Ryo?” Kame irritably stopped and turned to Ryo.
“Ah~” Ryo’s tone turned haughty. “So that’s your game plan? To ignore me and Hiroki. Is that how this is going to be?”
Kame sighed and face-palmed. “No! Didn’t you hear me earlier? I said I’m going to the john! If you must know, my bladder is just about ready to burst! What does that have to do with my so-called game plan to ignore you?”
Ryo raised an eyebrow. “Is that really it?”
“Yes! What has gotten into you?!” Kame exasperatedly asked and then grinned childishly. “You missed me that much to become this paranoid?!”
Ryo sputtered indignantly.
“Now be a good little boy and go back to our table.” Kame continued. Mirth clearly on his eyes seeing how his childhood friend was acting. “I’m just going to make a quick trip to the john and you’ll see me back in a few minutes, okay?” He made a small gesture, shooing Ryo away.
Ryo glared at Kame. “Do not treat me like I’m a little kid that you can shoo away at will.” But he relented and let the younger man go. “Fine. We’ll talk later when your boss is not around.”
Kame smirked. “If you say so~” He said in a singsong tone, clearly intending not to go along with that plan. “Now off you go!”
Ryo harrumphed before following Kame’s request.

After two hours of talking and dining together, Ryo suddenly decided to ruin the party mood and moodily cut off their gathering.
“I’m sure you three are having a great time talking about work, but I’m not so I’ll go ahead because I’m already beat. Hiroki, make sure you get that idiot’s contact number. I’ll be in my suite if you need me. Or if you choose to finally talk with me.” He gave a meaningful glance at Kame before turning to Jin. “Nice meeting you Akanishi. Clarify to the old man that I’m only agreeing to this foolish deal because of Kamenashi.”
Jin just raised an eyebrow at the repeated comment but nodded nonetheless.
When Ryo was gone, Uchi tsk’d. “I’m sorry. He’s a little tactless at times.” He grimaced.
Kame laughed while Jin just, again, raised his eyebrow.
“I think we all better retire for the day.” Jin suggested as he stood up. “It’s been a pleasure talking with you, Uchi-kun.” He offered his hand and Uchi gladly took it for a handshake.
“Same here.” Uchi replied with a smile.
“Kamenashi, you’re free to go shopping if you’d like. Know that we’re leaving first thing tomorrow morning so make sure you have everything packed by tonight.” He checked his wristwatch. “I have to go. I need to inform Shinkai-kun of the change in our flight schedule.” With that, he left the two in a hurry.
“So~ now that you just got off work,” Hiroki smiled. “How about we do that shopping suggestion? I plan to buy a gift for Yuuki’s birthday.”
Kame brightened up at the idea. “Let’s go?”

A/N: I know, a really short update but it’s better than nothing, right? ♥ sorry, I wasn’t able to write the delicious scene I have in mind for Akame because a new twist started to make its way to the series and I was only about able to change it *sigh* maybe next chapter I’ll be able to write it? *hopeful*
