to join in with all the fans on my flist, the new cover is revealed for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince all from mugglenet.com... take a gander at the US as well as the two UK covers.

There is to be a new Minister for Magic. We learn much more about Voldemort. No information revealed on whether Snape will be the Half-Blood Prince. HBP will be an intense book, but with light-hearted moments. says Arthur Levine (an editor at Scholastic)

Speculation:
* Harry passes his potions O.W.L. with a high enough score, Snape has said he only accepts O students, but even if Harry got an A, McGonagal might somehow nudge Snape into accepting Harry into his N.E.W.T. level class (thus the adv. potions text on the adult UK cover)
* Dumbledore shows Harry more about the history of Voldemort from the last war through the pensive on the US cover(?)
* Dumbledore defends Harry in some Flaming whip spell battle with Death Eaters
* Harry and Ron have some falling out, leaving Harry isolated for some crucial scene
* Harry figures out some other connection between himself and Voldemort
* the cover colors have nothing to do with Slytherin, just that purple and green go nicely together
