TV seasons

Well time for another update. I did intend to update each series individually after each episode. But I am finding these days that I tend to watch them in blocks generally about three weeks after they air. For some reason none of them seem to create that sense of must see television.

Well Lost continues on its seesaw of quality. The last few episodes especially one of us have continued the general upward trend in quality.

The others diversion as I said was a boring diversion so I was glad that it came to an end.  The Jack Tattoo episode was the low point of this season and almost persuaded me to give up on the series.

I liked it starting from Enter 77 as it was good to see kick ass Kate and Sayid again. Locke continues to wind me up as although I love his portrayal he seems to just be so stupid and selfish at times.

The par avion episode with Clare, Desmond and Charlie I really enjoyed as it started a process that seems to have continued into the recent episodes of rebuilding the character of Charlie who was one of my favourites in season one. Plus I warmed to Desmond in this one and it was good to see Clare again. Liked the pylons I felt for the first time in ages some real fear for some characters survival which is good.Loved the end scene though with Jack and the football and Kate's look of complete disbelief.

The man from Talahasse despite it being another Locke flashback I thought continued the improvement as it seems that they have started to think about answering some old questions whilst posing new ones. Part of an encouraging trend. The only problem with the ep is that it is turning the dreaded triangle into a quadrangle. Juliet is clearly being setup as a love interest for Jack and Kate clearly still loves him given her evident disgust at the flirting going on. Not to sure on the scene between them . Jack seems a bit cold and Kate a bit whiny and they dance around the pity sex issue which shows that the writers intend to draw the triangle out rather than resolve one way or the other. Great Sayid in the episode again I really liked the interaction between him and Alex . The reveal at the end was so obvious I saw it coming from last season.

Expose. Loved this episode. Don't get all the hate for the two characters. It was great, full of sly digs at the main characters and the writers. I mean it was obvious that they were paralyzed but it offered lots of answers to the monster. The drop of the walky talky is obviously important. Thought the inserts into the early scenes was done well and it was great to see old characters again. You don't really realize you miss them until they show up again. And the ending really good I didn't believe they would go through with it but what a nasty way to die.

Lef t behind another great episode really liked both Kate and Juliet in this one. Clearly an obvious setup on the part of the others. Good sense of danger and good Kate flashbacks. The B plot again proved that Sawyer is an idiot and the worst conman of all time. The fight scene with Kate and Juliet and the monster chase , great on all sorts of levels:-) Plus more insights into the monster. The quadrangle continues to build  which is annoying. Great Sayid at the end and I really liked how both Sayid and Kate were pissed off with Jack for bringing Juliet back. Of course Sayid is right and she's a baddie.

One of us great Sayid, great Juliet, great everyone. Knew the twist was coming. Really enjoyed the Juliet flashbacks and am warming to the character. The Sawyer/Kate hug was nice and shows they both care for each other although it did seem to me that Sawyer looked more pleased to see Jack. Overall really enjoyed this ep and this and the previous eps have been all pretty good.

Moving onto BSG. I have to say I have no idea what people are smoking if they think this is the best show on TV. Sure in season 1 and the first half of season two. Since then not just no but hell no. Season three has been pretty dreadful. The heavy allegory with regard to the Iraq war which is so blatant it is like being hit in the face repeatedly with a sledgehammer.

The cylons have a plan. They do not they are just aimlessly wandering around to classical music whilst having long boring pseudo religious talks. Thats not a plan. Where they used to be an intriguing baddy , they have overexposed them so they become a pale shadow of their former selves. Plus where the hell did Six and Boomer go and how did their characters 180 .The introduction of Lucy Lawless has been a disaster sucking the life out of every scene she is in much like Amber Benson used to do. Actually the comparison to season 6 of Buffy is apt as the season has basically destroyed everything good about every character. Whereas in the early seasons I liked or was neutral to all the characters . Now I like none of the characters and am neutral to Adama,Roslin, Tyrol ,Helo and Athena and just hate the rest.

The pace has been glacial there has been no sense of threat. And seriously striking over working conditions after the apocaplyspe . Please stop being such a whiny sap . That also goes for Lee, Starbuck,Dualla, Cally, Tigh,Adama. Plus so many episode have been downright poor. I liked the passage thought that was a good episode. But every ep since has got steadily worse. The woman king being especially bad, but then we got a day in the life which was even worse, then dirty hands which is hopefully rock bottom. The eye of Jupiter and rapture were average annoyed that they saddled Tyrol with the religious stuff might have been better for Kara to have that. The quadrangle here. Frankly I don't care stick all four useless whiny idiots in an airlock and flush them.

The growing Roslin Adama relationship gives me the hives and will be a disaster for both characters. Generally both sides seems to try and out do each other as to who can be the most useless. Unless it pulls a rabbit out the hat I may be done with this series for season four which is a shame as it used to be my favourite.

Jericho. Despite myself I am still watching this. They seem to get round to addressing most of the problems of living in a post nuclear war world . Unfortunately in order to make it dramatic they have to make the characters idiots. Glad the mayor lost the election although he got well enough to contest it and whine. Well maybe if he had shown any leadership or get up and go he might not have lost. Problem is they think of doing something generally a month after they should have done.

As for characters well I like the farmer and the IRS woman and snobby girl. The rest please . They suffer from being entirely unsympathetic. The lead male used to like but increasingly seems like a Mary sue. And his love interest please yet another triangle what the hell happened to Heather the interesting science teacher with a bit of get up and go. She did stuff. Good to see I was dead on about serial killer boy although frankly the woman deserved to die. God how unpleasant was she. I now actually think that snobby girl is too good for him. The plot still makes no sense . The stuff on the RFID was of course crap. Trying to make Jay sound like he knows what he is talking about and then have him misidentify transports as bombers . Plus where the hell did they fly from . Not frigging China that's for sure. Still no details on Europe which is fair enough as it is being presented from the townsfolk point of view. But despite this I think this still has promise . They just need to bin the mayor and his wife who is another scene killer, maybe the other son, the blond love interest and this may be worth watching next season.

Heroes. Really enjoying this. I understand now all the Hiro love going around. Great character . Although I like pretty much every single character especially Clare and her father and Hiro's friend. Knew that suggestion girl was working for someone else but interesting to see more complex reasons for it. Sylar is a great villain hopefully the reveal on him will not destroy the mystique. Peter as a lead I find a bit bland he is a nice guy but just seems a bit vanilla. His brother I like. Characters that do bad things because they care are a nice complication. Worried slightly over the pacing think it needs to up it slightly.

Friday night lights. Being a closet American football fan thought I would check it out. Really liking it so far, the characters, drama. really enjoy the coaches family setup and nice to see a different QB take than is normally portrayed on TV.
