Interesting. I liked your characterisation of Faith... and her threat to the Thermos of tea was a classic.

Is Rifleman Lehane made up, or was he a real person?

Thanks, there is a Lehane but he is listed by the American war graves commision as dying in 1945 so wasn't really suitable.

So Rifleman Lehane is made up , the unit is real and fought at Cambrai and has a number of graves both in this cemetary and at the nearby Cambrai East cemetary.

A very moving tale. You've captured both characters very well. I especially liked the ending, both sad and heartwarming.

Beautiful story. You managed to portray Faith's denial and grief as well as Giles's thoughtful help excellently.

Love your use of history to make a point, very Giles. Also like Faith's self-doubt, very Faith. Great story.

I always thought that Giles maybe harboured a regret about Faith and therefore post s7 would be more alert to it.
