Right around the corner is my ten year anniversary. My blogging anniversary.
Guts of a Writer has gone through several permutations over the decade: college-girl's ramblings; grad-school feminist arguments; a home for serial novels and short stories, political fears and celebrations, memories; the place I trace my progress as a professional writer.
Ten years in, I'm tired. I've loved it, been pressured by it, had amazing conversations, found long-term friends. And I hope that shutting down for a while won't change those relationship too much or put an end to the conversations.
Because that's what I'm doing. For at least a half-year, Guts of a Writer is going dark. I need to reassess what I want from my blog - reclaim the parts of it I loved and discard what isn't serving me anymore.
When I revise a novel, I delete in whole patches - I go back to the core of the story, and regrow from there. This blog is a story, too.
I'm not leaving teh Internets.
My website is frequently updated with book recommendations, vlogs, and other extra bits of information. I party over
on Twitter almost every day, and put all my news and occasional fun links onto the devil that is my
Facebook page. Not to mention all the awesome free fiction over on
Merry Fates. And if I read your blog, that isn't going to stop any time soon - its my favorite thing to do while I drink my morning coffee.
Thank you all for being a part of something that's been, for me, life-changing. After my break, I hope I'll come blowing back in and we'll do it again for ten more years!
