Historically it hapenned that 1st of September is one of the major holidays in my country for those who go to school, college or university and for those who actually work there. Of course, there are some other holidays like Fall Break, Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer Vacations!
Anyways, 1st of September is the very first day of school. Kids are all in their best dressy clothes and on the best possible behavior, probably saving the crap for the rest of the year; students are for once exited to meet with their friends and start normal rumoring and gossiping; teachers...well teachers are the only ones who worry all the time and smile not to scare the rest of the crowd.
As a tradition, on the First Day there are no classes but one = On World Peace. At the end of the class every single student from elementary to high school grad is to write or tell, if they can't write, an essay on How did I spend my summer
And although my school years are now as far from me as my home country, the habit of remembering the summer by writing about it is still with me. Oh, well, one really can not change ones habits.
So, here I am, in a nutshell...How Did I Spend My Summer
This summer I became a grad student in WCU. I got an assistantship there too that considerably eased my life.
This summer for the first time in my life I actually tanned my skinny body like other people do, nice and smooth.
This summer My mom visited me first time in almost three years.
This summer I am not afraid to drive in New York all by myself anymore.
This summer I hit the ER room and completely forgot to bring my photocamera with me, stupid me!
This summer I finally got my birthday party with the candles and wishes and a party.
This summer I learned how to dance Tango, a little bit, but still.
