Twelve Chapter 13:
Chapter 13
“Koyama?” Yamapi questioned.
Koyama was Yamapi’s teammate in high school. Though friends, they were more like competitors. Both of them were skillful strikers during high school, and both triggered the improvement of each other. However, it was Koyama who went on to be the national player despite it being Yamapi who was offered the place in the first place.
“Kei?” Shige gasped, quickly letting go of Tegoshi.
“I am sorry. He did this all for me. Please forgive him.” Koyama walked up to Yamapi and bowed deeply.
“Kei…” Shige’s head lowered.
“Apologize to Yamashita-kun, Shige.” Koyama ordered without even turning his head to look at him.
Shige walked up to Yamapi and lowered his head.
“Wait, wait, what’s going on here?” Yamapi asked, annoyed and confused.
“Remember our old incident?” Koyama reminded.
Yamapi nodded.
They ended their last match during their high school period in glory. But all the glory belonged to Yamashita Tomohisa alone. They were on their way to the celebration when the national team coach approached them. This man offered Yamapi a place in the soccer team in hopes that Yamapi would be another important player in bringing Japan’s soccer to new heights. However Yamapi shoved it off immediately and even mentioned, “Oh give that to someone else, like Koyama or any Tom, Dick and Harry. I do not have time for such troublesome matters.” He hasn’t meant it in an offensive way then. But that triggered Koyama to want to become better, and later getting into the national team through his own capability. However, he has always been mindful of the insult that Yamapi had unintentionally cast then.
“Well, Shige is my present lover and someone I knew from young. He admired me a lot for my soccer. I have told him about that incident, and he held a grudge about it. I did make him promise not to hurt you, but least did I expect him to go back on his words. I’ve never suspected that the reason he gave up going to Tokyo University to come here was to commit such a despicable thing.” He said bitterly.
“I’m sorry kei! I won’t do it again.” Shige rushed over and held onto Koyama’s arms, in hope for forgiveness.
“Don’t beg me. It’s Yamapi whom you hurt.” Koyama said, still not looking at Shige.
“I forgive you.” Yamapi said before realizing it. This grabbed everyone’s attention, especially Koyama and Shige who were now staring at him in disbelief.
“I meant it.” Yamapi said, slightly laughing.
He didn’t know why he suddenly felt so light-hearted. Perhaps it was because the chain he held around his love for Tegoshi was finally broken. He can release it fully at last without holding back a single bit.
“You’re lucky you’ve got someone who loves you so much Koyama. I’m sure he’s just a naughty boy who didn’t know what he was doing.” Yamapi said forgivingly.
“But…you can punish him whichever way you want, and me too. He has done you wrong.” Koyama immediately stated.
“Seriously, it’s okay. He’s certainly immature, but he did this out of love for you. For that, I would forgive him.” He smiled, making Koyama and Shige speechless.
Then he continued, “Right now, I just owe a certain somebody an apology.”
Yamapi proceeded to look at where Tegoshi was but found no one instead.
“Where’s Tegoshi?!” Yamapi asked frantically.
“He went off quite a while ago…” Ryo informed.
Yamapi panicked.
Just when everything is going to be fine, you disappear again?
“Go to his apartment.” Shige blurted out.
“Go to his apartment and wait for him there. He couldn’t possibly not go home. I’m sure you’d meet him there.” Shige tried to help.
“Yes that would be great.”
“And please tell me him that I didn’t mean to make use of our friendship. I really think he’s a great friend…” Shige admitted with a sorrowful look.
“I trust that he’ll forgive you. He’s too benevolent a person not to.”
Yamapi got the address from Shige before he walked over to Koyama.
“Forgive him okay? Believe in him. I’ve not been doing that so for so many times and I finally learnt my lesson. Don’t make the same mistake I did.” He patted Koyama on the shoulder before he rushed out of the room with his bag.
I am not letting you go, ever again.
