I have to admit, I was a little suspicious when I heard on NPR this morning that the Siemens competition was
"won by Wen Chyan from Denton, Tx." Yep, TAMS strikes again.
On a side note, what do you guys think about the linked NPR story? It profiles another competitor (who attends the Indiana cousin of TAMS). I guess I found it to be a little offensive, maybe embarrassing for the student they profiled. To quote the story, he "yearns deeply to be seen as something more than a math prodigy" -- something many of us can relate to, I'm sure; and yet the story does little more than paint him as a math nerd in a prepubescent body. :(
