... though what that exactly entails is anyone's guess.

So, i'm looking over things, and i'm chuckling at how big this project might get and i'm thinking, do ebi (look what you started!!) and tj and i know what we have gotten ourselves into? ^_^

Feedback and/or suggestions? Structure, formatting, etc?

I'm thinking this should be its own tiny LJ reference-comm, in the end. That way I can do one massive entry for fic by author, and then other entries sorted off by pairing, an entry for art, for misc, etc. Ideas for a name? Something a little more attention-grabbing than Project_GAM, maybe? Something clever and intriguing and white-dragon referencing but not exclusively Goujun in case we want to further kyuuuu's efforts and compile for Hakuryuu? White_Dragon_Scrolls? White_Dragon_Archive? White_Dragon_Grotto?

Gyaah. Ideas? *puppy dragon eyes*

On a quick perusal I have to say I love the little summaries you got going. I plan on looking at it a bit more tomorrow, playing with it, see what kind of things my mind goes looking for when it's surfing the list, see what works, what doesn't. Try it on for size, take a walk in it, so to speak. Then I'll get back to you on it, ok? If you'd like I could put out a post, asking for feedback. Would you like that?

I'm putting the archive name on a back burner, let it bubble in the noggin. We have until the end of the month to come up with something totally brilliant on that. Right now, my brain keeps going back to that Bram Stoker story "Lair of the White Worm," and until that leaves my head, my ability to brainstorm is gonna be for shit.

It's really cool, though! Thanks so much again for taking on the challenge! By the way, how did you want me to deal with any recs that come my way? Did you want me to send them along as soon as I get them, or wait and send them in packets?

Maybe in a week or so, we could seek general feedback? I'd like to do a little more with it, put sort of explanatory header thingy on it about what I mean the finished product to look like/how it should work...if I'm making sense. Nine hour workday + four hours school afterward followed by focus required for icy-road drive has rather fried the brain. ^_^;

Uhm, if people drop recs on your rec post, I can easily gather from there. If they're dropping elsewhere, sending them in packets would be ideal. I'm tj dot dragonblade at gmail dot com, btw, if needed.

Sounds like a plan. Gather anything you see recced here, and I'll send along anything else I get. Don't fret; we have a month to get it up and running, and it doesn't necessarily need to be totally complete when it goes live, now does it?

Oh, I'm definitely not shooting for 'Fully Complete' by go-live. Just basic construction and the bulk of the list. Feel free to post a link to the WIP thinger; I added most of the explainy bits I'd meant to and got a few more recs in, too. My Friday class, you see, is rather easy and thus is AWESOME for Getting Things Done besides assignments. ^_^

A bonus to this whole compilation thing is that I inadvertently get to review older Goujun fic I haven't read in a couple years. Of course, this is also a drawback in its own way, b/c it's easy to get sidetracked in the re-reading instead of moving on with the compiling. ^_^; And I am absolutely nothing if not distractable and could really use a lovely Taishou to keep me on track! >_<

1. Do we want to make Gaiden manga available? I can't remember where I got my earlier stuff from, and ever since it started up again in '05 my scans have come from RFB and now saiyuki_manga. Are there sites out there with scans or scanlations that we could link to? Direct people to saiyuki_manga? Upload all chapters as I've got them to a non-expiring FTP site (I have an acct that will work)? Can we find out if Jibii/Athena/Mosh/Jedi and anyone else involved at SM have preferences on re-distribution of scans and translations? Uploading earlier chapters and then directing traffic to SM for later stuff would work, too

1. I think we should at least provide links, but if you want to spend all that time and energy to prep your own set, more power to you. My thought is to direct them to saiyuki_manga. My earlier reading was at aethesticism.com., but for the most part they don't have the images together with the translations there. Since I believe saiyuki_manga plans on putting up all of Gaiden chapters eventually, I see no reason to reinvent the wheel. I know they don't want anyone to make scanlations of their stuff, but other than that I'm not sure. Would you like me to ask

1. Yeah, 'f we can verify that they don't mind re-distribution, that'd be good. In case I do go the reinvent-the-wheel route. Undecided.

4. I hesitate over potential broken links, too. But may be worth it for a few things, if there are things out there. Like the caramelldansen. ^_^

4a. Peeking at crunchroll, looks like it's ep#s 40, 45 and 46 that cover Gaiden. For now I'll plan on linking to those.

4b. Hmmm. I dunno. It would be simpler, maybe, to list the YouTube users who've done this and post a blurb on the page saying 'Hey, you can run a YouTube search on [keywords] for [list users] for Gaiden chapter scanlation filmstrips!' or thereabouts. Especially given potential for broken linkage?
