Day 1 - Favourite Incarnation of the Doctor (30 Days of Nu-Who)

Christopher Eccleston.  Matt Smith.  Christopher Eccleston.  Matt Smith.  Well, at least it's not a 3-way tie.

If forced to choose, however, I'd pick Matt Smith.  Why?

• He is the Doctor. With a brilliant debut series and hopefully many more to come, that's the clincher.
• He's not whiny.  You have to love him for that alone. ;-)
• Smith has the rumpled, whimsical Doctor with an edge down pat. CE was hard and edgy, appropriately so, but still Matt's Doctor is more fun to watch.
• Matt Smith's voice is perfect. In the series 5 closer, the way he said "Oh, Rory" while looking at Amy's body just blew me away. The pain, the regret, the acceptance of the situation - how can someone do that with 2 little words?

I know David Tennant was a fan favorite but for me he was just too manic and too whiny. I did like him with Donna, though, so I guess we'll get to that on another day.
