First off, I would like to mention here that
sunbrae has a Shiny New Laptop that she has named "Nine."

Now, for a variety of reasons, we have bitten the bullet and bought a new van. If the Lord's willing and the creek don't rise, I'll drive this one for ten years or so and get our money's worth out of it.
So obviously the van needs a name. Not to be used in public, of course. Mr. T. is very down-to-earth and straightforward; he doesn't nickname inanimate objects. Our other van didn't have a name.
My first car, presented to me on my 17th birthday, was called "Nutshell" in the privacy of my own mind, after a quotation from Hamlet: "I could be bounded in a nutshell, and count myself a king of infinite space..."--a sentiment probably common enough among teenagers with their first car, if not normally expressed in iambic pentameter.
(The fact that at seventeen, I named my car after a Shakespearean quote should give you some idea of my reaction towards the most recent episode of Doctor Who. I believe the term "geeksquee" is appropriate here. And yes, I know the rest of the quote. When I was seventeen, it was emo and fitting.)
Anyway, for the new van. It's a very nice van. Bigger than our last model (we have more kids now! With more Stuff!) with new and improved features that I'm sure I'll love once I get used to them. It'll get me where I'm going, which is all I really ask.
But the fact remains, I loved my old van. It might have been older, but it did everything that I wanted. It was mine, and I loved it, and dangit, I WASN'T THROUGH WITH IT YET. The new one, no matter how shiny, isn't Mine.
Really, it's very obvious what to name it, when you think about it.
(Come on, fangirls, this one's easy.)*

mosellegreen, this one's not aimed at you. I know this isn't your fandom.
