There HAS to be a loophole in that. There's just no way. We should not have to live in fear of our own government tearing down our house to build a mall or a highway. It's un-American to the point that I feel like it MUST conflict with the Constitution in some way.
Eminent domain for necessities is, well, necessary and understood. But when some rich man demolishes an old plantation home on a whim...because he feels that he must build something...that's just not right.
