Shoeless
I've gotten into the habit of taking my shoes off when I'm painting rooms. I leave my socks on and put my shoes in a drawer or somewhere protecting them from paint. The other day I forgot I didn't have shoes on and went down to lunch. I don't think anybody in the elevator noticed but once I got to the first floor where it's tiles and not carpet I realized right away and went back up to 4 to get my shoes. In the common-are on 4 the beautician saw me and noticed I didn't have any shoes on. She gave me a terrified look and said something under her breath I didn't hear.
