Guards and Wards

Last week we played some more Pathfinder and I forgot to write a summary again. This time I remembered before the next session at least?

Many people spent the week studying in the library, some of them getting or preparing to get new classes or feats or whatever. Others went slowly stir-crazy...

At any rate, they eventually wrapped things up enough to head home, which was uneventful because they just teleported -- both June and Ash were able to teleport and between them they could take everybody. Except Shalalu who'd run off to hunt down the harpy monks for some reason.

They arrived in two different places in Sandpoint -- Ash's half in the shopping district and June's near the ruins and the garrison. So, Ash's group started shopping while June's reported to the mayor and sherrif after being redirected to the temple...

At which point they were *all* rounded up and told to go investigate the giant sinkhole that had appeared near the garrison. No, not tomorrow, RIGHT NOW. Really. No shopping for you.

SIGH.

The sinkhole led to the temple they'd cleared long before, when they were fighting the crazy half-angel lady who wanted to turn herself into a demon. The obvious path to take was the previously collapsed stairwell which someone had cleared out -- but they decided to make sure nothing was lurking in wait on the first level, just in case.

Nothing was lurking, except for the evil pool where the not-undead had emerged from earlier, which was now full of tentacles. The Paladin (Dr. Zeddicus) and Elyssie both charged in, with Kita a bit behind, until the magic-trained people reminded them that this was an evil artifact and not actually a creature and there was LITERALLY NO POINT TO FIGHTING IT because you couldn't kill it just by stabbing the tentacles.

So, eventually, they took the obvious path, and found a creepy, abandoned temple of Llamashtu with what they thought was a spirit possessing one of the guards who'd gone missing but turned out to just be a shapeshifting ghost. With his gigantic monster pet that mostly hid in the mist the filled the area and made it really confusing to move around. He wasn't immediately hostile, so they spent some time reading the walls (mostly full of religious nonsense) for clues about the Hellfire Forge.

...and fighting more Tindalos Hounds, who'd apparently torn the guards to pieces. So much for that sidequest.

At any rate, they found some interesting clues, including the location of the forge -- by the 'mirror lake' up in the top left corner of their map surrounded by giant faces -- and the fact that they had to use the key on each face in turn in a seven-pointed star pattern ending on one particular face. Also, no one who entered the hellfire forge was ever allowed to leave, which should probably be concerning.

Anyway, I don't remember what happened at the very end of the session but I suspect there was going to be a fight or something.
