all nite L80s really wasn't that bad. I play the same shit I always play (gawd this shit gets formulaic) right down to the foolin em into brazilian shit here and there. Brian Gruters was in effect, yay! I was ready to bust down the Footloose/Lost Boys combo when the sound dude finally figured out what i had been trying to tell him all nite and the sound exploded, ruining people's eardrums and the mix. I can't wait til that sleazy hemorrhoid is long gone. I could totally do this by myself every week. Wow. That would be a nice job. Kip Killagain came thru and played some electro and rap, that was neat...I was getting very playful on the decks, scratchy scratchy, even imitating his style a little. I hope that didn't piss him off. Played perhaps the best rap set I've ever done, altho 3/4 of the crowd could not give a shit. Fucking Flagstaff.
Walked home and grabbed a veggie burrito on the way, still overpriced but still the only option past midnite on a Wednesday. Catcalled by the native gay dudes for my Wrangler jeans. Every time. Wrangler butts drive me nuts. I really appreciate the fact that Wednesdays are the only regular queer posi nite in town. If the owners had their way it wouldn't be, but I almost feel a responsibility to keep it there to keep it going. It sounds like there's a changing of the guard coming. again. could be an opportunity to get in there and turn that place around.
Went to bed at 3:30 last nite to wake up at 8:30 and rush to the NAU Surplus for the projector that went on sale today. Someone else was there for it at opening so we bid, he paid 201$ for it. From the looks of him, to project his video games humongo style on the wall. What's he know about that?
I watched ATL finally the other nite. T.I. as a rapper not playing a rapper did a pretty swell job. I'd like friends of mine critical of radio rap to see this movie. In the same way I encouraged people to watch 8 Mile. Because then all the bravado and machismo is put into context, albeit a Hollywood version, still some sort of background is created. These aren't two dimensional characters, and while their product is more saleable as such, they still appeal to me for their complexity.
