It's that time of year again. Let me start out with a caveat. These recs are limited to the fandoms that I know. That's probably, at most, a third of the possible fandoms in yuletide. And even within that range, there are more stories than I could possibly recommend. Just because it's not on this list doesn't ean it's any good. These are the ones that stood out, the best of the best of the best.
First, let's start out with my piece.
A Fine Romance. (The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, PG-13). This is PERFECT. Absolutely everything I wanted. The characters are perfect. The dialog is perfect. Everything is perfect. Seriously.
Now, in no particular order, except that of my bookmarks...
The Kid from the Narrows (Batman Begins, PG-13) It's in second person, which is risky, but it pulls it off beautifully. I will admit to guessing the ending, but that's mainly because I'm a huge Batman nerd, rather than sloppy writing.
The Beat Goes On (Hairspray, G) What happened after the movie. Hilarious.
The Morning After the Night Before (Hana-Kimi, R) If you like Nakatsu, Umeda or Akiha, you will like this one.
Rock, Paper, Kisses (Sky High, PG-13) This is what high school would be if people had super powers.
You Own Heroic Journey (Sky High, NC-17) A great bit of back story on a lot of the adults. Focuses on Ron Wilson, Bus Driver.
Homecoming (Hustle, NC-17) Oh, God. I can just hear the voices of the characters as I read. I mean, I honestly have these moments where I can totally hear it, as if it were coming out of my TV speakers. Amazing.
Fabulous (The Incredibles, PG) Ah, Edna. How well you are done here.
One Week (Invader Zim, PG) Invader Zim is not a fandom I generally read, because it so rarely matches the canon. This does.
Our Endless Work Down Here in Paradise (Independence Day, NC-17) A lovely reminder that saving the world is the easy part.
Direct Evidence (Hot Fuzz, PG-13) Paperwork, and people trying to kill Nick Angel. What's not to like?
I Take Thee, Carter: A Tale of Several Weddings and an Apocalypse (Eureka, PG) This very much captured the spirit of the show.
