(no subject)
So my English class with Dr. Gerber has been really intriguing. We were discussing how overrated Robert Frost is and after class, as we were walking back to her office, I had stated that Robert Frost is to poetry as Kenny G is to music. (Then she asked who Kenny G was, hahaha) but anyway and it sparked a discussion about how people put up a facade for financial purposes. Then she made a profound statement. In her office, she said that poets, much like artists (musicians, painters, etc) are very similar in the fact that they place their trade before everything else and neglect other important factors in their lives (families, homes, etc) Take Robert Frost, he forced his beautiful wife to move to a farm in New England so he could "live as a farmer". He wanted a big family so he made her pop out 5 kids in a short amount of time. While he went to work, she had to raise 5 kids in an isolated area. He showed her no love and barely paid attention to her. She had to raise kids and take care of the farm he had dreamed of. Their marriage was in shambles because he wanted to write poetry. Or take Eliot, he had his wife put in an insane asylum for hysteria while he had an affair with his secretary but he too didn't care about his wife, he wanted to write and become famous.
In other news, there isn't much news. Super busy with school and classes. Trying hard to stay ahead in classes, especially Spanish where I often have at least 2 hours of homework outside of class. I have to keep good grades so I can get into at least a semi-decent graduate school.
Bowling was fun, some people are coming over then we are going out. Tomorrow, Amanda and Laura (and anyone else i guess) are coming over at 3 to watch some movies then we are going to see Hide and Seek. It should be a pretty good afternoon. If nothing else, in the company of good people. I am really tired i haven't been sleeping all week. Going to bed late and waking up before the alarm goes off :/ And I have a lot of homework to tend to this weekend :(
