By way of a stroke of genius on Amy's part, we got to go see Nine Inch Nails again for virtually no expense on our part ($15 parking, that was it). Turns out an old, forgotten gift card she'd gotten had $200 worth of credit on it for the venue (Palace of Auburn Hills), so away we went!
Great show. Lots and lots of Year Zero and a good portion of Ghosts material. That surprised me. It was a show for the super-fan, to be sure, though the hits were also represented. The band played tracks from virtually every album (nothing from the Still EP, sadly). Trent's giant graphic screens were present, and utterly amazing, as last time (though I think this version's setup is better than when I saw them in 2005). The political content of the last show was mostly absent, but the pistol/crucifix graphic that accompanied the song "God-Given" was priceless. I watched this show as a fledgling graphic designer, and became very envious of Rob Sheridan. Helping conceptualize all that stuff had to have been the best job in the world.
Good times.
