Drabble: Sick Building Syndrome
Summary: If the authorities can’t isolate the problem, they have no other responsible choice.
“We’ve tested for mercury, mold, lead, for everything linked to mental deterioration…. Over the last six years, twenty-three staff members have exhibited often-crippling disorientation and memory dysfunction, and over a hundred students have suffered hallucinations or transitory memory loss. Where a teacher develops symptoms, so usually do some of his or her students-but not necessarily at the same time! The transitory problems often occur in clusters, but not the more serious cases.
“If we can’t isolate the problem, we’ve no choice but to close the school.”
