Busted on Day 2 of the BCPC main event after a pretty wild hour. After a grindy Day 1 where I managed to double up, I saw hoping for a more active table draw on Day 2, and I got it. Early on I called a girl down with 54 on a 8-5-3-6-9 board to build up to 60k. I'd been playing about half the pots when I raised utg with QQ to 1500, the young Asian guy on the button 3-bets to 3500, I put him in for his 18k total, and he decides to call with AJ. Yay, image! Boo, ace on the river. I won some pots, then paid off the girl again to see her show the nuts, and then I get in another confrontation with the guy again. At 400-800 he raises early to 1800, a very poor player calls in the next seat, I re-raise two seats down to 6700 with AK, folded back around to him, he ships it for 32k, guy in between folds, I snap, he has A9. For the second time in twenty minutes he looks unhappy with himself, but I re-assure him, "don't worry, you'll get there," and he does. I'm left crippled and bust shortly thereafter with 33 vs K8.
I'm somewhat disappointed since I had two opportunities to be among the tournament chip leaders (albeit early) as a ~3:1 favourite but got hosed both times. And also because I consistently fail to do anything in Vancouver, ever. Annoying. But at least it happened in a $2500 that's 20 minutes from my house instead of some 10k that I had to travel some great distance for.
