I'm certain you've all noticed by now, but the website appears to be functioning again. At least that is one less worry.
So, the new VP of finance arrived the other week and after 2 hours of talking with me, he immediately decided that he couldn't do this without me and gave me the raise I basically wanted (a bonus in January makes up the difference). Yes, I now officially have this in writing... And then the guy started calling me his assistant controller. Somehow I managed to get a raise to match something a Senior Accountant should get, and then a day later got an unofficial promotion with no money. Go me. *shakes head*
With the division of the company, I'm now pretty much the only "high level" accountant doing a shit ton of work--I helped the fractured company close their books over a weekend, I'm the only one doing the books on the current company, I'm doing some of the work for the financial analyst who left months ago, and I'm doing sample requests for the 2012 financial audit that is going on (yes, we're just now getting around to that when I'm practically the ONLY one who can compile the information compared to three people last year). I've been working 11-12 hours a day and about ready to punch people when they ask why certain things aren't done, as if their request is the only fucking thing on my plate. RAWR.
At the moment, I'm pretty much praying for August to start. The audit will hopefully be done by then, I will have no responsibilities to the fractured company, and best of all, I'll be working from home where no one can walk up to me and ask for something. I'm currently calling the next six months a working vacation, and once I get my bonus, I'm probably gone. The VP keeps saying that he'll promote me to Asst. Controller officially at that point, but I just don't see that working well. Hell, no clue if the company will still be standing by that point.
With my eventual shift to working from home, I'm thinking that I might actually have more time to write again (no commute and nobody watching over my shoulder during slow times). I'm so excited about that possibility, you have no clue, and I'm itching to get back to Squall and Seifer. I have a plot bunny nibbling at my ankles about a possible
Orphan Black type story (if you haven't seen Orphan Black, I definitely recommend it). A handful of Seifers running around and a confused Squall sounds like fun. :D What do you think?
