In short: Yaoi Con was all sorts of lovely

Others have been great about updating daily with Yaoi Con adventures, but I'm way too lazy for that. In any case, it wasn't Yaoi Con itself that was great - it was the people I met up with, both old friends and new ones. This is why I go to San Fran.

ehcnalava was 'dragged' to another convention this year and we actually met up at the airport despite me being bumped to a different flight due to snow and her coming from Houston instead of her original plans from Denver. For the rest of con, our room was the 'decompression room' and right across the hall from the 'international fangirl room'. It was absolutely lovely to be across the hall instead of across the hotel this year and we'll probably do the same next year since it wasn't that much more expensive.

gardensgnome attacked Jamie and me before our luggage even made it out of the airport shuttle, which was highly amusing and a great beginning to the week. Many others were already waiting for us - bloodstaindnght, misskalloway, nekofreak, and zalia. hecatesbrat was also present, though I only knew her as Cyd until a day or two later. Yes, I did a face-palm at realizing that I actually knew this person. It was great seeing everyone in one place again, even if I did have Zalia to myself several times in Denver. Now everyone knows that I do in fact have room for people to invade whenever they are in town. ;)

Japantown was made of much fun on Thursday, and it was very good that Jamie could join us this time given flight issues last year. I think she had a blast laughing at us and pointing out things we needed to purchase. She's quite evil that way... though she got an amazing 'toy' that is an Ipod speaker in the shape of a Lego brick and it works. I mean, better than the quiet, tinny sound we were expecting. I bought more volumes of 'Ze' after getting excited over convincing others to buy the series. ;) Alas, when we got back to the hotel, I had to do a bit of homework that night, but it meant Dustin could watch a new 'Supernatural' episode in our room and have a good excuse to keep the room quiet. ;)

The total of con events I did on Friday - registration. Seriously, I didn't do anything else. Instead, Jamie, Dustin, and I tagged along with trespassor and her girls to an appointment and some Barnes & Noble fun. Steph, one of the "girls", is now officially 18 and belongs to us. ;) One of my favorite moments of the con was on Saturday when I convince Steph to buy two volumes of 'Ze' and trespassor informed her that, 'if you buy those, I'll be borrowing them.' Mother and daughter sharing yaoi interests - got to love it. ;) Back to Friday, I met up with dark_squall along with raceulfson, who I completely missed last year. I heard the name, but I was too embarrassed to out right ask, 'Wait, is there a Race in the vicinity?'. Best part - she's a controller! She supports my idiocy to be an accountant. *grins*

Saturday was full of buying stuff. More manga, more artwork, and other little bits. I did my annual 'Hello, I have nothing to stay' with vejiicakes in the fan market. Yes, I'm made of fail. ^^; But her penis cookies were very yummy. ;) Met up with Terri and Steph again for good lunch, a money run, and plans to see the AMVs... which were really lame this year. Really lame. There were three or so decent videos out of twenty, and one of those was given a boost simply because the song is funny by itself, but whatever. Did some cosplay stuff with Gnome and Nik to satisfy their inner muses, and yes, there are pictures... when I get around to it. And after playing hide-and-seek all day, I was able to meet up with both drowning_london and suzume_tori, who were much fun and able to cope with the insanity that radiates from our group. ;)

Sunday had closing ceremonies, which was very hilarious, even if lacking in proper amounts of spanked bishies. Cyd was able to get on the stage and our group promptly informed them that she was a con virgin. She got to spank her bishie three times. ;) Of more fun, 'Legolas' won a prize and it was a bear raincoat; he was made to wear it on stage.

Oh, and hey to oceanserpent - sorry that I missed you at con! Jamie and Gnome mentioned that you were around, but I never saw you... though I'm very narrow-sighted when it comes to crowds. Did you win twice at closings? I have video if you want it.

And that's the most of it. Many one-liners and 'you had to be there' moments ensued throughout the con, though Neko completely tainted us all with a Hetalia skit from Fanime. We were chanting "Ca-na-da" and "we'll never know" all weekend, along with Neko's lovely America impersonation (Hahaha, nice fight!). I have video of that, too, for memories of good times. ;)

I'm certain that I have I forgotten some things since I'm a little 'OMG, it's over??' right now and many things have blurred about the week. In any case, I absolutely had a good time. Pictures should be coming in the near-ish future. This coming week will be kind of crazy with catching up on homework, catching a couple Avs games, and working at random hours, so I'll get to it when I have free time. Until then, I miss everyone already and let's start planning for next year. ;)
