Belated Merry Christmas!

Belated Christmas tidings to everyone! I've been working on a couple of request ficlets and I was hoping to post one of them yesterday, but it obviously didn't happen. =P I blame three hours spent at the neighbors and the sangria that was given to me. So, instead, I'll finish up the two ficlets, hopefully have them beta'd, and have them posted for everyone on New Year's.

First off, KIWI! I just got the little guy today, gardensgnome, along with the other goodies in your box. So I have to know - did you buy out the kiwi farm for the group? It's still dangerously cute and soft and I'll have to make certain that no one steals him from me. Thanks also for the photo + frame (what's a year without a con photo?), candles (the green one smells awesome), and Grog Money jar (dang, that magnet is strong)! I feel a touch pathetic just getting you a calendar. You're always too good to us!

Otherwise, I got an interesting variety of presents this year. Jamie and Timu got me a ticket to Ka (a great Cirque du Soliel show) back in November when we went to Las Vegas. Another friend got me a build-a-bear elephant dressed in Avalanche hockey gear (it's a bit scary how well it works). And my parents sent money, so I got myself a Mammoth (lacrosse) jersey and was able to get 15 signatures from this year's team that night (overall, a great score). I'm heading home to Reno in January, so I'll be able to see the parents and have a few homemade dinners, one of which that should be a very belated Christmas.

In other news, I got an A in my first two courses of my MBA and I'm surprised I managed it. One of my courses had 1000pts available and 500 of those were from the final exam and term project, thus I had no clue about my grade by the end of the semester. The final was brutal - 13 essay questions, 11 of which having 3 or more parts, and 3 hours to complete the thing. Somehow, I managed to get 238/245pts, a miracle in itself when everyone at the end of the test was asking each other if they had managed to finish all of the questions. I had, but I thought my answers didn't have enough substance, let alone the fact they were filled with grammar errors. I can only assume that the teacher curved the shit out of the thing. The other course wasn't nearly the same surprise and I was pretty much guaranteed the A.

My next classes start January 5th, so I have a bit of a break to write, though I still have Starbucks to get me out of the house, not to mention Avalanche and Mammoth games to see. Hard to believe it's almost 2009, but I'm very curious what that year will have in store for me.

Best wishes, everyone!

christmas, life
