So, I finished writing a fic for a Y-con submission and now I'm waiting on my lovely betas for their attack on the beast.
cicer and
smgriffin, let me know if you didn't receive the email I sent on Sunday night. It's nothing amazing, but I still had fun writing it. And as promised, I'll post the thing the moment I get any reject email, something that wouldn't surprise me given the amount of submissions they probably get. And actually, I didn't see anything about an anthology on the site, so I'm just submitting to the contest.
Anywho, life has been crazy lately. In short, my company is releasing 62 contractors from their contract. Of the 18 people who work in our lab, 16 are contractors, so that means I 'get' to train 10 people ranging from some who haven't touched these assays in three years down to analysts who have never done our assays. Because of that, I'm currently working +20% overtime and it's certainly beginning to wear on me in a "I can't juggle all of these people at once!" type of way. Oh, and have I mentioned that they all have to be trained and competent before the contractors last day a month from tomorrow? ...Yeah, I'm not holding my breath at us keeping our invalid rate down. Worse, we have told the higher-ups that and the reply was, "Well, then that will be good information". Thank you for helping to boost our confidence levels. =P
In other randomness, I've been reading The Authority mostly from curiosity sakes and it's all
vejiita4eva's fault. It's the type of almost series that keeps me interested and hopeful for something more, but I rationally know that it'll never meet my expectations. And sadly, I feel like a smoker who keeps saying, 'I can stop whenever I want to'. Really, there are good things in the series, but there is one thing that keeps irritating the crap out of me - the lack of satisfying endings. Especially with 'Transfer of Power' where the authors apparently went, 'holy shit, we've built up the story into an entire parallel world collapsing and we can't figure out how to fix it despite us having a character who can do almost anything by just thinking about it... oh, I know - let's have the heroes sit back and do nothing and everything should work itself out'. Worse, some editor gave this thing a thumbs up to print. My head hurts.
Otherwise, been watching too many movies (Transformers, Ratatouille, Live Free/Die Hard), too much TV (Eureka, Burn Notice, Psychic), and no books aside from comics/manga. Avoiding Harry Potter for the meantime - no interest in the movie and the book will come whenever it comes. Oh, I got my Avalanche season tickets again for this year and I'm very ready to see some guys smacking each other around while skating at high speeds. October seems so very far away.
Nothing else random or exciting happening. I'm going to be working on the next chapter of FNFE, but I wouldn't hold my breath for me getting it out within the month. I imagine that I'm only going to be getting busier as it gets closer to Aug 19th. ^^;
Thus ends my somewhat monthly update...
