There's nothing like an IJCL board meeting for getting some knitting done. Here is the current length of my toe-up purple-and-gold sock (I decided to keep following the Widdershins pattern, more or less, although I'm adjusting as I go to allow for using a heavier yarn and larger needles than called for...):
I almost thought I'd finish the sock at the meeting, but we managed to get through all the necessary business quickly this year and got out a little early today.
Adjusting the pattern for this sock has been interesting. I've had to rip back a couple of times to redo sections (had to start over on the toe when it was turning out too big and, well, the toe goes fast it was quicker to rip it out and start over than to try to rip back to a specific row! also had to redo the heel turn when, because of the larger needles and all, it was ending up a bit too far back for my short foot...) and the result is that this sock is fitting so snugly and comfortably...I hate to take it off after it's on for a photo! I love this soft merino wool, too. (I'm also pretty fond of how much more quickly the sock knits up in this light worsted weight than ordinary sport- or fingering-weight socks do!)
