Book recommendation: Herald

Herald by N.F. Houck

A friend of the Indiana SCL advisor wrote this book, so he had copies for sale at state convention and I bought one. I started it Monday night during my trip to Chicago for the AP workshop, and just finished. It was quite good; she's taken various stories from Greek mythology and woven them into one linear narrative, told as the autobiography of the god Hermes.

Of course my recommendation of the book has nothing to do with the fact that Hermes is one of my favorites of the gods. Nothing at all. :-) But if you don't like him as much as I do, rumor has it the next one in the trilogy will be the story of Artemis...(Who, in Herald, reminds me greatly of the portrayal of Octavia [i.e., Augustus' sister] in I, Claudius.)
