Character
Name: Mikoto
Series: Final Fantasy IX
Timeline: post-game
Canon Resource Links: FFwiki on Mikoto and FFIX

Affiliation: Rocket grunt

Personality: Mikoto lived in a village of soulless Genomes, monkey-tailed vessels that would be rehabilitated with the souls of the extinct Terran people once Terra effectively commits genocide on Gaia and assimilates into the younger planet. At first she seems just as zombie-like as her peers, but she does actually have a personality underneath it all. Clipped and deadpan and cynical, she questions absolutely anything that she doesn't understand, which is... practically everything, considering that she abandoned her home planet and is basically stranded on the strange new world of Gaia.

On Terra, she looked after the soulless villagers, and is also built to be a runner-up Angel of death who would spread destruction on Gaia a la Kuja if it came down to it, without complaint. Now rehomed at Gaia, she's kinda a blank slate slowly learning their way of life, and appears to be developing emotions and opinions and a... soul, basically. Even though she is one of the few Genomes to even have one in the first place.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
strengths:
. follows directions efficiently
. has some telepathic ability with Zidane and presumably other Genomes (I guess this will be tranferred to pokemon instead in this game? uhh let me know)
. relatively mild-mannered, if tactless
. knowledgeable in bio-engineering science and computers, considering she basically supervises the creation and care of her fellow Genomes
. pretty non-confrontational, unless ordered to be
. ultimately, she does seem to really care for her brother and his friends underneath it all
. has a prehensile tail that can presumably support her own weight (Zidane's can). idk if she will be keeping this though so uhhh let me know again

weaknesses:
. is kinda socially impaired due to a general lack of knowledge
. doesn't understand a lot of common-sense concepts (what's the purpose of a cemetary? what's the point of running for your life when your home is on fire?? etc)
. can be very cold regarding the lives of others. this seems to be slowly changing though!
. relatedly, doesn't really seem to have much of a conscience... yet?!
. can be extremely rude and tactless. unknowingly, but hey
. is kinda a pessimistic defeatist sometimes
. takes things very literally

Samples
First Person Sample:
What is the purpose of this uniform?... To easily distinguish the members of Team Rocket, then. I see. This feels... familiar. On Terra, our clothing held the same purpose. Individuality was unnecessary, for the most part.

But... what exactly is Team Rocket? I have never heard of such an organization. Why have I been drafted, and what is its purpose?

... Should I... repeat after you?... I understand.

To protect the world from devastation...

Third Person Sample:
She glanced from the pokedex to the tiny bobbing pink thing making odd chirping sounds next to her. And then back again to the screen. This instrument was unfamiliar to her, which was unsurprising--nearly everything nowadays was strange and new to her. Back on Terra, she could operate the computers practically as well as she could her own body. On Gaia, she would be lucky if she could identify the purpose of a single button.

But now that she had changed into the black uniform that had been given to her and awaited further instruction from her new organization, perhaps she should better acquaint herself with her inventory in the meantime. After giving the odd red-and-white capsules a cursory glance, she focused on the most complicated piece of machinery in her arsenal. The pokedex appeared to be beeping, flashing images and messages across its screen. She took in the data with curiosity and her usual healthy dose of skepticism.

“This information is incorrect,” she said to the pink creature, who paused in its bouncing and singing, black ears perking up somewhat. “Stars are large balls of hot air, millions of miles from here. To the naked eye or through a lens, they are circular pinpoints. You, however, have five points. Clearly not star-shaped at all.”

Immediately the black ears drooped. Mikoto spared the Cleffa a dispassionate look before continuing to read the pokedex, tail swishing slightly in the silence left behind in the wake of her pokemon's chirruping cries.
