Spoilers: My fic As We Go
Summary: She's just been cleared for physical activity, but it doesn't excuse either of them from being five hours (plus) late for work. Because of this lateness Nathaniel goes to wake up Alicia and Laura, after a night of what he assumes to be quite a bit of physical activity.
A/N: In response to Bellakitse's prompt "Wash/Reilly-Water" on the Friday One Word Fic Challenge-Week 1 and I'm so happy she gave me some prompts for my ship :) I'm going to write some Skye/Carter now :)
The Claddagh Ring to which I added stones.
 ENJOY!

Nathaniel Taylor has a smile on his face. He finds her innocence and relaxed expression endearing because he’s rarely ever had the opportunity to see her sleeping. Part of him finds his presence in her home ill-fitting; it doesn’t feel right to interrupt her slumber (their slumber). But it’s past one in the afternoon, and Lieutenant Washington is late. Doc Shannon had been on him since seven in the morning that Alicia hadn’t come in for her appointment (every morning since they’d found her...) and something could be wrong. Not only had she missed her appointment but she was missing from her duties. He’d known exactly what was keeping her. So, he’d investigated, with a brilliant wakeup call in this hand.

Alicia Washington isn’t and never has been the type of person to talk about her personal life. She doesn’t have much of one, considering she’d been with him more than she’d been with her own bed. But between the long hours she’d somehow managed to build up a relationship with the tactful Laura Reilly. Same gender relationships had become an unjust minority as the years passed and population control was implemented. Less people were adopting/putting their children up for adoption, and Artificial Insemination had become something very rare. Marriage between two people of the same gender had just dissipated, though it had been fully supported up until the population laws had been applied. It hadn’t even surprised him when he’d found out about his Lieutenant’s relationship. She’d been tactful herself and had set up her and Reilly’s schedules so that they wouldn’t work together quite as frequently as to not interfere with their work. He saw little problem with this. He’d sort of known about them before he’d walked in on them-another story for another time-in flagrant, mostly because of her reaction to a bad Excursion OTG with no radio contact. She hadn’t slept (not until he’d ordered her to take something-and even then she’d only managed 6 hours at the very most), he’d practically had to force her to eat something, and had watched with quite a bit of concern as she paced for the three days leading up to the Convoy’s return.

Now he’s standing over his lieutenant’s bed with a smirk on his face. His greatest friend (whom is conveniently covered up by a sheet and nothing else) is asleep with her partner’s arm slung over her waist holding her close. He finds this side of Alicia Washington quite endearing, but it doesn’t excuse her from being five hours late for work. Neither does it excuse Corporal Reilly from being eight hours late for work. He’s decided to let it slide for once; the only thing either of them will get out of this is a guilt (embarrassment) trip and extra laps through the obstacle course (which Alicia will love, considering she’s been stuck on her ass for three weeks). Being cleared for physical activity is one of the best things to hear when you have a significant other. It was something very good to hear for Alicia, if the clear state of both women’s dress is under the sheet. He suppresses a chuckle and picks up the bucket of ice water he’d lugged with him to Wash’s house. He leans over their bed ever so slightly and empties the contents onto the sleeping soldiers.

With a yelp both Alicia and Laura sit up. Alicia already to her senses snatches the sheet and keeps it from giving the one man audience a show (though he’s already seen practically every inch of her) she positions herself in such a way that she’s blocking the younger woman, who is wiping the water from her face and shivering.

“Nathaniel!” She exclaims focusing her glare on him. Laura lies back down with a humiliated groan pulling the sheet over the face.

“Morning, Wash. Or should I say afternoon?” He quirks a brow at her and she frowns, glancing at the clock next to her bed. Her mouth falls open and her eyes widen when she sees what time it is.

“Doc Shannon would like to see you.” He smirks when her expression goes deadpan. He walks to her door, and turns before he leaves.

“Reilly?” He asks. To anyone else his tone would have sounded completely disciplinary, but in this instant not even he can hide the mirth in his voice, no matter how little. She groans in response but doesn’t come out from under the sheet.

“You both have to run the obstacle course an extra three times, besides that you’re both in the clear. Don’t make a habit of this.” Wash rolls her eyes playfully but is very pleased that she will have the chance to move now; Laura reveals an arm from under the sheet and gives him a thumbs-up.

“You’ve got an hour to report to you station, and the same applies for your check up.” He leaves before they can respond and only when Alicia hears the door close does she flop back down next to Laura.

“Oh my god! I haven’t slept that long in years!” she groans covering her face with her hands. Laura rolls over and props herself up on her elbow and grins at her.

“You were pretty exhausted after last night. We both were.” The smirk that plays on her lips is matched before she leans down to capture Alicia’s lips. The lieutenant hums contentedly.

“I’m going to get Hell from Doctor Shannon when I go to see her.” She says, perfectly okay with taking a few peaceful moments-albeit cold and wet-to enjoy Laura’s company. Laura laughs, and kisses her again before rolling out of bed, completely at ease with the fact that she doesn’t have any clothes on.

“You think anyone will notice?” Laura asks, while she takes a towel from the drawers. Alicia stands too and walks over to the younger woman wrapping her arms around her from behind and pressing a light kiss to her shoulder.

“Does it matter?” She asks, and Laura links their hands low over her tummy.

“I want people to know, but, it’d be the first one...” The happy soaking her tone has Alicia smiling. She lifts up their clasped hands and leans her chin on Laura’s shoulder.

“Nathaniel is going to make me wear a dress.” She says, and isn’t entirely opposed to the idea. The rings on their fingers aren’t flashy. Silver claddagh rings (heirlooms from Reilly’s great great great great {give or take a few greats} grandmother’s who’d been twins.), the meaning behind them is significantly different than why they’d originally been worn, but they work for Laura and Alicia’s situation wonderfully. The other wears the ring that has the other’s birthstone (“Ironic how things work out, eh?” Laura had said the night before). The hearts are jewels and the rest is just a silver band.

“I like that image. Save water with me?” She turns in Alicia’s arms and presses a kiss to her mouth.

“Hot water does sound wonderful right now.” They grin at each other and make their way into the bathroom to...shower.
