Part 1/?
Pairing: Will be Wash/Guzman, eventually Wash/Taylor.
Timeline: Pre- series
Rating: PG- 13 for now.
Disclaimer: Not mine...
Summary: Starts at some point after the Fifth pilgrimage has arrived at TN.
Wash has been in a relationship with Taylor but he has broken up with her and she´s not coping well and turns to her best friend, namely the wonderful Lieutenant Guzman (who unfortunately seems to be lacking a first name, which is why I´ll call him David- which of course has absolutely nothing to do with my eternal crush on David Duchovny ;))
This will mostly be about the Sixers arriving and causing trouble and about Wash and Guzman dealing with Taylor´s wrath and Guzman dealing with his feelings for Wash which she probably won´t return.
Let me know how I´m doing and enjoy and keep your fingers crossed for the US Women´s Soccer Team, about to play Canada and hopefully not going to give me a nervous breakdown by loosing.
"Morning, Lieutenant."
She stood at attention, careful to keep her face expressionless, her voice void of any emotion.
"Good morning, Sir."
He hesitated for a moment, his smile faltering as he observed her, taking in her slightly worn posture, she wasn´t sleeping well, wasn´t sure she´d ever sleep well again.
"Alicia-"
"Don´t."
She held her hand up, silencing him, ignoring the way his eyes narrowed slightly.
"Beg pardon?"
"With all due respect, Sir, I´m not interested in having a personal conversation with you, I´m here to receive my orders for the day."
Taylor held her gaze for a moment, then he leaned back in his chair, sighing as he crossed his arms over his chest.
"Is it always going to be like this from now on, Wash?"
"Have I done anything wrong, Sir?"
He looked puzzled.
"No-"
"Have I been disrespectful in any way?"
"No but-"
"Then please give me my orders and let me get to work, I´d hate for your reputation to suffer if people thought you´d let me get away with being late."
Her CO got up from his chair abruptly, his frustration getting the better of him.
"Damn it, Wash, I have enough of these hostilities, if you can´t deal with this-"
"I can deal with this perfectly fine, Sir, it´s you who seems to have trouble readjusting to our professional relationship."
He rounded the desk and for a moment Wash feared that she had pushed him too far but when he stopped in front of her, his expression had softened and to her horror, Alicia felt tears dwell in her eyes.
She forced them back furiously, she wouldn´t cry in front of him, he had promised once to never hurt her and then he´d gone and done just that, made her cry and plead and finally beg and she had sworn not to go there ever again.
She recoiled from his touch and he shook his head, then straightened up and looked straight into her eyes.
"Fine, you are right, I have certain- difficulties."
She felt hopeful for a moment and she hated herself for it but the moment was over again almost instantly when he told her to go and do her patrol, dismissing her.
Slowly making her way over to the gate, Wash tried to shake the weariness that was once again settling on her mind and body, she felt exhausted, hopeless and it wasn´t like her, it was weak and she had prided herself of being strong all her life.
Dave Guzman was waiting for her by the gate and Wash didn´t bother to try and fake being in a good mood for her comrade, they´d known each other for years and he´d be able to look right through her, anyway.
"Morning, sunshine" he grinned and she halfheartedly punched his arm, scowling as they started walking along the fence together.
"Shut up, Guz, I´m not in the mood."
"Could have fooled me- this is getting ridiculous, Wash."
"I know that, Guz, think I like being like this?"
"Then stop moping and do something, he´s dumped you and it doesn´t look as though he´s going to take it back anytime soon."
He was right of course, Taylor had indeed dumped her and judging by the way he had been treating her in these past weeks, he was determined to stick with his decision.
Since their relationship hadn´t exactly been common knowledge, Guzman had been the only person Wash had been able to turn to for comfort and at first her friend had been very supportive, letting her rant and cry, whatever she felt like most, had listened to her curse their CO in the most colorful words and had been a willing partner if she had needed to vent off some steam on the combat mat.
Lately he seemed more and more annoyed with her behavior, though and Wash sort of could understand his point, she was acting pathetic and it was high time she got a grip on herself and got on with her life, she had managed without Taylor before, she would manage again- it just hurt so damn much.
"Look, I know you love him but he doesn´t want you anymore and however noble his reasons may be, it´s apparently final and at some point, you´ll have to accept that."
Alicia drew a deep, calming breath, then nodded, looking apologetically up at him.
"I´m sorry, I know I´m acting stupid, I never pictured myself pining away over a guy and you´re right, I have to do something about it."
Guzman chuckled, his hand briefly touching her arm.
"Now that sounds more like you, tell you what, let´s go to Boylan´s tonight, get drunk."
"Really drunk?"
"Wasted, Wash, just like in good old times."
