I really and truly mean it, I have always had such a great time at Ohayo and this year has been my best year yet. Seeing all of my friends for the first time since my move made it all the more special to me. It felt especially short this year, perhaps because it was my first time arriving Friday afternoon as opposed to Thursday evening, but even now I can reflect on the weekend fondly. Andrew said something that warmed my heart, too. He mentioned that before now, it always felt like he was just hanging out with "my" friends, but now he considers everyone his friends too. Needless to say, my con year is off to a very good start.
Now on to the con report!
FRIDAY
As per tradition, I spent until the last minute working on my costumes. They were successfully finished at 1:00am on Friday morning, thanks to my
agahali (JO!!!) for making the belts for me... you are the reason I slept! XD Though we had intentions of arriving at a decent time, I didn't pack until the morning of so our time of arrival ended up being around 2:30. The line for registration was surprisingly very short at that time! What a relief that was, since this was the one year Andrew forgot to register. My photographer for the Gundam shoot (ByeByeBeautiful on coscom) was kind enough to let me reschedule the shoot for 6pm... can't wait to see the shots. <3
The first friend I found was
the_rami rockin' it in her Gaga outfit. I missed seeing her at Otakon! I found
elycium shortly after, who is always a great pleasure to talk to. <3 The steampunk outfit was freaking awesome. When I stumbled upon a Darkstalkers group clogging up the hall with their photos, I knew I had run into Marce, Ilona, and my
sadira_pookie which ensued a very loud reunion. Oh Teph and your glorious blue boobies.
As the night went on and my shoot happened in a cemented stair hallway, I changed out of Sayla and into Kid since it was surprisingly warm enough inside for my COMFIEST COSTUME EVER!~ Passing through the food court,
xlixia and I noticed each other from 20 feet away, starting yet another boisterous reunion. Her boyfriend Joel is freaking awesome... he and Andrew bonded almost too well. We made our way upstairs, finding
gray_fire and eventually
feytaline. We pestered the very busy
takaginaosama and the rest of the deathcom crew who I had befriended last Tekko. Eventually we met up with Teph, Marce, and George (who somehow managed to evade this photo.) Now what did I tell you about Joel and Andrew? Whoever took this picture made me so happy... found it on facebook. =)
SATURDAY
Blah blah blah Rozalin. You guys are probably sick of seeing it and I've posted pictures a thousand times so I'll spare you for now. (I don't carry a camera on Rozalin days anyway.) Jo and I took forever to get dressed and since she was wearing Rachel Alucard, we looked like sisters! (Leonard Jinto got some pretty great shots, I'll have to link those when they're up.) We ran into people that we didn't get a chance to see on Friday, including the lovely miss
xmichiko_chanx ,
daft_lang and my friend Cat who moved to Columbus recently. She stayed with us most of the remainder of the con, I forgot just how much I had missed her! So I spent several hours playing princess until I got tired and was ready to change... I totally locked the card key in the hotel room that morning. FAIL. Eventually, a hotel staffer was able to get us in. He was super nice, as was the desk clerk. We were pretty lucky in that regard.
I changed into Haman and Andrew got back in Goku. The rest of the night was spent casually hanging with awesome people like Natalie and Lindsey, then
noblessoblige , Steph, Rami, Anthony, Dan, and Ilona. I stayed up until 3am. You hear that guys? You all kept me up waaaay past my bedtime.
SUNDAY
Usually the fatigue day where I don't cosplay and leave early, not only did Andrew and I get back into Sayla and Amuro and get a few last pictures, but we were also the last of all of our friends to leave! How the hell did that happen? Not too much to say. A lot of this day was spent saying our goodbyes and talking about what's to come at future cons. The carride home was a reflection of what a fantastic weekend it had been. I'll remember this Ohayocon for a very long time. I love you all and I truly miss you. I'm still working on editing the pictures, I'll have them up sometime this week.
Until Acen, folks. =) Now it's back to the grind!
