"I don't know."

Keanu Reeves and Kou Shibasaki? Feels like a nostalgia trip...

Went to a Japanese supermarket the other day and picked up some Nerunerunerune, among other candies. Even though it's more expensive than it is in Japan, it's a lot cheaper than ordering online. I've been hunting for Popin' Cookin' candy sets (see here for example--nay, watch all the videos...so addicting) but unfortunately the store didn't have any. I might have to resort to online purchases.

On the way to the store I spotted a huge billboard advertising the Northern California Renaissance Faire, which starts this weekend! I really want to go, but I don't know. I'd have to sew up a skirt and maybe even a chemise. I'd probably make a cloak too. :D Or, try to fashion a more "female knight" esque garb. I want it...

Quantum Conundrum is looking pretty amazing. It would be pretty funny if Valve rehired Kim Swift just to take a game's concept again.

Skyrim demo in HQ! This game!!!

I FINALLY finished DX3 yesterday... The following is mainly things I wish were different, but I'm still in love with the game and will probably be doing replay on Hard (lethal time...). I'm excited for Missing Link, though I still need to pick up FNV DLC and ME2's Arrival. Sigh, the trap...

I nailed both the Foxiest of the Hounds and the Pacifist achievements, awww yeahhh! I seriously did a fist pump, LMFAO.

The hardest task in getting Pacifist was saving Malik. I was not going to let her die. The main issues were time, height, and the damn security bots. I could easily take everyone down with nonlethal takedowns or weapons... But keeping them alive was another thing. Whenever I took out one of the snipers, they would fall off the ledge onto the ground below! I actually took to getting up to their perches and taking them out when they weren't too far from the edge. Even worse, upon being completely down for the count, the bots would self destruct, killing anyone in the vicinity. Each attempt (five tries in all, never failing to save her but always resulting in deaths) left me using the stun gun more and more to disable the bot for just long enough to drag bodies out of the way.

FUCK THAT. Never doing that again. Next time I'm going to throw explosive barrels at those things!

In terms of actual battles, however, that was clearly the best. Even though I was panicking I had a blast doing it over and over. Boss battles paled in comparison. Barrett's takes you out of the gameplay. Federova's was anticlimactic. Jaron Namir doesn't even really talk to you at all, and by that time I had picked up the Typhoon aug already. So I triggered it twice in a row and he was a goner. I know it's overdone in other stories, but I wish your "revenge" against him could've been much sweeter. Not to mention I took down Zhao Yun Ru in pretty much 10 seconds by using the Laser Rifle...

The worst part is, the story doesn't even explain who these people are. I only know because the former three are heavily featured in the prequel novel, so even in trailers I recognized them. The game alone doesn't really give a lot of information.

Revelations... Let me say again that this game reminds me of my own story. People being resistant to enhancement rejection is actually a small part of mine. Jeez! Still, I was really disappointed that they didn't extrapolate on Adam's background. What's up with genetically altered babies? His adoptive parents? The fact that all this genetic manipulation apparently occurred in the 90s? I'd like to learn more about that. Definitely not necessary for future installments, but if they plan on doing anything else with Adam Jensen...

A lot lacked closure. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the endings were basically push a button and getting a "general scene". No closure with Megan, nor with Hugh, Taggart, or Sarif, even Malik or Pritchard. I didn't even like any of the decisions! I'm very pro-technology, and having seen all the endings already (uh...there was a cheevo for it) I have to say I'd actually go with David Sarif's. I actually would want Adam Jensen to reveal everything (which was what I chose first), but I didn't like the outcome of that. I feel like people wouldn't--shouldn't--be so quick to shut down everything. Story-wise the "blow it all up" feels the best, but burying all the shit that those bastards did isn't exactly the best resolution IMO.

Ideally I feel the best ending would've been a combination of all four--reveal everything, but make sure people are aware that the issue at hand are the "Illuminati". Put forth regulation, but not as restrictive as supporting Taggart gets you (I mean, Sarif freaking put sunglasses into Adam's face... "Yeah, that looks cool. Do it!" He never asked for that). Focus on how to stop certain individuals and groups attempting to influence research. Publicize said research--multiple parties oversee what goes into the market, and "bugs" like a biochip being able to control people with the push of a button are spotted and thrown aside. In the end, the people make the decisions, not politicians or company CEOs or "men in the shadows".

Then again, maybe I'm too much of a humanist in the broad sense (I can get pretty paranoid about what an individual is planning to do). As Adam himself says if you sink Panchaea to the ground, "I don't know..."

That said, the ending after the credits was sweet. I love the original's soundtrack! It's so obviously 90s.

Seeing how the game has already sold over 2 million copies, I'm betting a sequel is on the horizon.

completed run, game: deus ex human revolution
