Its so interesting to watch a Wolf hybrid, and a Dog interact. Roxy, our mastiff, is defended terribly by Fenrir. Wolves are very territorial over their mates, a trait that Fenrir seems to have inherited. At the dog park a large Doberman started to mount all the dogs in the area. Fenrir just watched him closely, when the doby went after Roxy, Fenrir took off. He started to have long strides only allowing his toes to contact the ground, then he lunged at the doberman knocking him to the ground. Teaching Fenrir to smile while being petted is something I have been working with for a while. Seeing those same smiling fangs in a snarl is quite intimidating, especially when it is the first time.
And yet the funny thing, whenever the Great Danes wanted to play with him, he hikes his tail and ran to Roxy. Once the damsel in distress, she is now to be his knight in shining armor. With people, they are the two most gentle dogs I have seen. My mother still refuses to believe this ever since she scarred Fenrir and he began pacing around her with his heckles raised warning me intruders were in the house. She refuses to awknowledge that moments later he threw himself onto the ground at her feet; with his stomach pushed high into the air to get what ever scratching he felt he was deserving of. To see these dogs grow before our very eyes makes me quite happy I am as trigger happy on the camera, as I am.

This is Fenrir and Myself....

This is a picture of Roxy when she was much younger... but still so you can see the kids.
