This year I decided to join the ESPN contest in selecting the winners of the NCAA Division I Basketball tournament. The grand prize is $10,000. I'm not likely to win it, but I think I did pretty good. As of today, only 161,869 out of 2,000,000 entries (give or take thousands) picked the final four teams in the tournament and I happen to be one of them. The current national leader in the contest has 1,220 points. I, myself, am ranked number 9,111 with a point total of 1,100. I created 5 entries, but only one is doing well.
Although I may not win the grand prize, I'm rather proud that I chose the final four. All but one of the experts chose the incorrect four four. You can see my picks versus theirs.
However, this is where pride for my alma mater steps in and I chose my team to win the championship. All the experts are favoring Florida to win and advance to the final game, but I hoping and wanting a victory for UCLA. In my pick, I forsaw UCLA playing Georgetown for the championship. Although I'm not likely to win, $10,000 would be a nice supplement to help defray some of my debts. I don't have the cleanest bracket, but it's the best I've done to date.
