(Reminder note: Pounce is 4.5 years old, Wiggles is 2 years old.)
Wiggles is making more and more sentences, though her favorites still start "I want...". She's also picking up phrases from us and from Pounce. She came running up to me to hug my legs and I picked her up, she said "come on" in the exact same teenage tone of voice that her big sister uses, to let me know that wasn't what she wanted. She's warming up to me a lot in the past couple of months, though she still has her "mommy, mommy" moments. When
i_am_dsh is out, I've heard "Looking for mommy" a few times. Pounce has been having fun at tumbling class, and has gotten pretty good at hanging on to the bar and climbing ladders, though if she gets her hands on one of the rings, that's all she's going to do for the rest of the class. (The other kids aren't as obsessive about the rings. They also don't try to hula-hoop with them.) She knows most, maybe all, of the letters, but doesn't have the order memorized yet. She loves alphabet books, and number books, and books in general. One of our baby-sign-language books suggests holding hands together like an open book as a sign for book; our kids will grab a book and walk over to our laps if they want us to read to them. No mistaking *that* sign.
Pounce has become quite the little artist. Her favorite activity is drawing something - we're going through *lots* of paper as she draws and draws. She usually has a story about what she's drawing, and who's in the drawing. Sometimes it's real people (us, her classmates at preschool or dance class, etc), sometimes it's characters from TV shows, and sometimes it's characters she's made up. She's beginning to write captions on some of her pictures, and sometimes just write stuff. One of these days we'll manage to teach her a pencil-style hold, but her writing is pretty legible for holding a crayon in her fist. She is still also a very stubborn little girl, and can be quite the contrarian when she's upset or too tired.
We took the girls to
Gilroy Gardens (formerly Bonfante Gardens) for Pounce's half-birthday. They both enjoyed the trip. It's a very kid-oriented theme park - I can imagine most teenagers getting bored with it pretty quickly. There were rides that both girls could ride on their own, and there are some rides which have a *maximum* height (48 inches) which Pounce will reach relatively soon. Both girls fell asleep on the ride home, so we skipped our stop at
Flames in San Jose for Big Cake.
We're going to need to get Wiggles her own bed, though that probably means getting Pounce a new, larger bed, and letting Wiggles have the toddler-bed. Wiggles already likes climbing into it and pretending to sleep, though I'm sure some of that is to tweak her sister.
