Well, I pretty much never write in here. So I guess I'll do an update on my life over the past five months or however long it's been.
The summer was amazing. There were a lot of ups and downs, but the good parts were really good. I got to spend three full months with Eric, and that was incredible. We also spent one of the best weekends of my life on vacation up north. I feel so damn lucky to be with him. We had a great summer.
I also taught a lot. I was dance program director of the Jim Lee Fine Arts Camp, and got the chance to work with some of the sweetest kids ever. I did the Joffrey thing, which I kind of hate, but it's good money. Taught at Dancin' Fun, chased after some four year olds for a couple weeks.
I choreographed for Kay Kelley and the Kearsley Park guys again- Twelfth Night and Cinderella. Met some fun people, got to work with Eric, made some money. Good times.
And of course this was the second season of summerdance, and I feel really happy with the work I got done. I really like the direction my choreography is going and I was so lucky to have so many amazing dancers to work with this summer.
So now I'm back here in Tallahassee, working my ass off and loving every minute of it. It's so weird to think back to when I was so miserable here. But now, it really feels like home, and I have a family of friends who mean the world to me. I'm getting to do what I love, and be surrounded by people I care about. It's awesome. Next Fall, I'll be doing a semester in New York. The Dance Department has a program called FSU in NYC for Seniors and 2nd Year Grad Students, where we live in New York for four months, have weekly seminars and workshops with professional choreographers and their companies, go to a different performance every night, visit every art museum in the city, and the school gets us all an internship with a professional company or school in the City. I'm thinking I might do mine with the 92nd Street Y, or a company that does a lot of community outreach. So that'll be an amazing experience, and a ton of my close friends are going too.
That's pretty much my life lately, in a nutshell. Things are good. For a little over a year now, I've been the happiest I think I've ever been. I love what's going on in my life, and the people who are a part of it. So...maybe in another five months I'll update again. Just for the few of you who still read this. <3
