For years I have complained about how retail stores keep bringing in their Christmas merchandise earlier and earlier each year. I would like to enjoy the cooler weather of fall and all that comes with it without being hit over the head with the fact that Christmas is three months away and maybe I should start buying stuff.
(Note: Yes, some people like to buy their Christmas gear ahead of time, like me. I hate the Christmas crowds -- I get a case of the "bah humbugs" if I have to go near a mall anytime in December. I just don't need the blatant trumpeting of "Christmas is coming" in September.)
And now, somehow, I have become part of that trend by virtue of working for a mass retailer. This weekend I was in our local store and behold, Christmas trees and decorations. It's 80 degrees out and you want me to think about decorating my home? Are you KIDDING me? I can't even get time to plant my bulbs for spring and you want me to buy holiday bulbs for my tree?
Ack.
On another note, my weekend was wonderful. Gorgeous weather all weekend long. Went to a couple outdoor festivals which are always fun. Took Lola swimming at the lake and while she's swam before, she REALLY loves it now. Completely enamored with swimming. Loves to play fetch into the water. And REALLY likes to roll in the sand and dirt when she comes out of the water, which isn't so enamoring from my perspective, since we have to give her a bath then, but it's all worth it for a tired, happy puppy.
I'm glad we had such a great weekend outdoors, because it looks like T.S. Jeanne is coming through and pouring lots of rain on us.
