"Keyd nodded, gripping at me again. I leant into him and wrapped my arms around his back. He really did feel too hot; it even came through his clothes like the thick heat of a furnace. Our bond throbbed where my chest was pressed to his, but I ignored it. He was right; he couldn't get sick, and it probably was just from being overworked. I wouldn't worry unless it got worse."

That right there kind of stood up and WAVED at me, so I've been suspecting what was happening to Alan for awhile now. But in fact, you've been setting this up since Eleon went through it, at least. I actually thought that Keyd was guilting over it in the first part of the chapter, but then it didn't really seem like a big deal to him, so now I'm left wondering what those nightmares are about. So you did a great job of foreshadowing and then thwarting my expectations there, and I know a lot of surprises are still on the way. Like it a lot. And I was sure that Alan was going to tear Keyd a new rectum for not telling him what he knew, but I guess I didn't know him as well as I thought. And for the first time in awhile, I'm not sure at all of where the novel is going, not that I mind. That chapter was really intense, and revealing, and foreshadowing, and just deepens the mystery, and I am just thrilled at the improvement I've seen in your writing, just since the story started. You've done a hell of a job. :D

BTW, how did it happen to Alan, assuming the answer's not quite a spoiler?

It's not really a spoiler, but it will get explained fairly well in the next chapter how/why it happened. So it'll probably be easier to wait for Kir to do most of the explanation. :D It's mostly related to Alan's ability and the fact that he's hanging around a high concentration of energy/people with the entities all of the time.

Yeah, there's a lot of stuff in this novel especially, but through the whole series, that's foreshadowing for a lot of stuff later in this book. This is the one where everything comes together and a lot of things from the earlier books that might have seemed just random or like unrelated events all culminate. As for where the novel is going, a second major plot point has yet to kick in, but it's been foreshadowed a lot. Like I've mentioned, this book is long. :D

Oh man, yeah, this series as a whole has done so much to improve my writing. Doing these recent chapters and also reworking Tenebrism at the same time is such a difference, it's crazy.
