The best thing about the scarily thorough google maps where you can drop the little yellow person down into the city and literally skim through streets like some sort of levitating ghost over a Dead Zone-esque tableau is....I don't have to be in New York to walk the same path that my character would be walking. Yes, this is quite excellent. I've been to New York, but hell if I know what these intersections in Chelsea look like.
This would be the best part about being a full-time, professional writer, as my little imagination would like to fantasize about. "Oh dear, I'm writing about Dublin/Athens/London/New York/Amsterdam/insert cool major city here. I must go there AT ONCE. For accuracy."
