FUTURE STUFF!

I know I’m nowhere near to finishing the main Light and Shadow series (the last book plus aaaaallll the rewrites) and I’ve clearly planned to do Keyd’s POV which will be just as long if not longer, but I have like six other stories I want to write in this same universe. Some are partially written already, some are huge blocks of text where I just incoherently yelled a plot and characters and outline to myself, some are just vague blobs of ideas sitting in my head still. Each of them have kind of a focus on some part of clar culture or some backstory to the world so they are all pretty different stories.



There are some sliiiight spoilers in here if you haven't read the entire L&S series or if you're only up to where the Tenebrism rewrites are, just be warned.

• Kir and Darban’s story. This story is the one most written at about 50k so far. It basically follows both of them from when they go into military training to about when they show up in L&S. So there’s a big focus on the military and training, army life, the war in general, also favoritism and segregation inside the military via castes and families etc. Also some political background and a look at how life was during the rule of the previous agistar (not just Maedajon but also his dad, who was in charge when K&D were born/growing up) and how the government and everything worked before their entire society became nomadic/displaced (lots of the story actually takes place in Clarylon, so there’s stuff about Lojt and its culture too). So while in Keyd’s POV there will be much more military stuff than in Alan’s, the most of it will be in this story.


• a story set five years after Skiagraphia that would focus on SOME BIG SPOILER STUFF I CAN’T TALK ABOUT IT but basically Rhet and Ansa would be the main characters. The focus here is on SPOILERS! I actually really can’t mention any of the couple of things that would be going on because it’s all related/branching off from events at the end of Skiagraphia. But I swear it’s interesting. Technological advancements with the clar? That’s not really a spoiler. Also there would be femslash here! I would like to give doing that a shot. And Rhet basically has a crush on EVERY BOY AND EVERY GIRL, so some regular slash and then even some het in there.


• a story about Lren. Nobody probably knows who he is since he has physically shown up once in L&S for about .5 seconds at Kir and Darban’s wedding. But he’s a fairly prominent character in their story and I really liiiike hiiiim and I want to do a story about him that would also be heavily about how the oenclar do PR with other ‘aliens’; how they deal with other cultures and how other cultures deal with them coming into their worlds all the time and sometimes living there and all the oenclar’s xenophobia and how they want to respect/protect other civilizations BUT AT A WAY FAR DISTANCE and stuff like that. This would be set even before Kir and Darban’s story because Lren is older than them and the timeframe would be when he’s fairly young himself, so even further back in time!


• a story about Rysa! This would basically be her childhood up until...not exactly sure yet, but sometime before L&S starts. And obviously this would be a lot about the differences between oenclar and clarbach cultures, Rysa and her family, what happens to her, how she adjusts with the oenclar and basically how the Raen family ended up basically adopting her and how the oenclar in general reacted to THAT because by the time L&S rolls around the fallout is pretty watered down since it’s been so long (except on the occasions when people still kind of don’t trust her; it’s subtle but it happens) but obviously it was a huge damn deal at the time. Also a lot about the relationship between her and Keyd, Keyd’s family, etc. Also, naturally, her family as well.


• some sort of super super back in time story about how the clar 'discovered' the entities and basically how the whole symbiotic thing came about and all the ensuing fallout from that.
  

Eventually I want to write ALL OF THESE and in all likelihood the Kir and Darban one will be first because it's the most written, but I'm nearly always wrong about when I'm going to do things/start things/finish things because sometimes stuff like WHOOPS FANFICTION or WHOOPS HIGH SCHOOL AU will happen and destroy all the plans. But if one or more of these sounds the most interesting to people...then I could try and put them in some vague order of importance to work on.
