Spock and Chekov cast
I should have posted the thing about Spock when I first found out about it weeks ago, but they have cast the actor who will play the young Spock in the upcoming movie.
Zachary Quinto will be the young Spock.
At the same time, they announced that the movie will also include the elder Spock, and (drum rolls, please)
LEONARD NIMOY WILL ONCE AGAIN PLAY SPOCK!!!!
And then on Wednesday, the new Pavel Chekov was announced.
Anton Yelchin will play the young Chekov.
Now, of course, Chekov did not join the bridge crew until season 2, so why would he be in a movie about them when they were young? Well, he was in fact on the Enterprise in season 1, because on Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Kahn, Kahn recognized Chekov saying "I never forget a face." Even though the episode that Khan was on was a season 1 episode, "Space Seed".
Here is the biggest problem that I have with Yelchin playing Chekov. He is an actual Russian. Chekov had a bad Russian accent, not an authentic one! Can Yelchin match the lame accent that Walter Koenig had?
