So there it is. Juan Pablo Montoya becomes only the third foreign driver to win in NASCAR's top series! Before him, only Mario Andretti and Canadien Earl Ross had ever won, and neither in the modern era. I had been predicting that Montoya would win a race in his rookie year, and he did! Tomorrow I get to reap the benefits of that at work, where I am certain I will hear lots and lots of grumbling. So, Montoya has now won the Indianapolis 500, has won several Formula One races, and now has moved over and won in NASCAR Nextel Cup. He can win in anything, much to the dismay of the 'good old boys' that follow NASCAR. He may be the third foreigner to win, but he is the first non-white to win in NASCAR Nextel Cup. Good job, Pablo!!!
And to make it that much better, Burton had a great run and finished third, keeping him 5th in points.
