Windows Vista

So I tried installing Windows Vista RC2 on my desktop this afternoon. How did it go? Well, I'm back on XP after about an hour. =)

Vista is definitely slick - it's got a much prettier (default) UI than XP. I felt that it's generally more usable than XP as well. On the down-side, the screen fade-in-fade-out effect that you get every time a system popup appears is disconcerting, and the security "features" are really in-your-face annoying.

"Do you want to do this? Are you sure? Even though it's from someone we don't trust? Do you want to trust this application in the future?" Bleh... I hope it's not so bad after you have everything installed, but setting up everything for the first time is *really* annoying.

Anyway, the show stopper was actually that my sound card (M-Audio Revolution 7.1) doesn't have Vista drivers, and I can't live without sound. Hopefully they'll remedy that problem soonish.

(I finally posted something!)
