Goody Bag Committee?

May 13, 2008 22:50

I know several people are already doing things for goody bags for the meetup, but I thought we could all try coordinating. dracofiend and I had a massive brainstorming chat today and now we're really excited to see what everyone is planning on doing/what people can contribute. We also were thinking about doing a raffle at the picnic (like having 10 bigger ( Read more... )

I was figuring on making a bunch more of these this year. If I get really excited I could bring the parts and we could make some at the con; I'd just need someone local to provide the spraypaint, as I doubt the TSA will be keen on finding it in my carry-on luggage.

I still have my wand from you and it is awesome! It actually sits in a vase with all of Mijan's, which amuses me greatly.

Those look awesome!!!! And making some at the con sounds awesome, though the spray painting might be a bit messy, lol.

For the spray painting, we take them outside and do it en masse on a bit of newspaper. (I did this with a big group of kids; worked reasonably well.)

Of course, I have no idea whether there's an appropriate area near the hotel. ;)

I'm pretty sure a raffle is already in the cards - we had them at Prophecy and it was AWESOME :) Numbers would be on something (little plastic coins, paper, etc.) and dropped into every goody bag. We actually had something for almost everyone last year, so we should be able to scrounge together more than 10 things, I'd think. I know I've got a few things I plan to get for it already :D

Well, I was thinking of 10 rather nice things, I mean. Like, as in, more expensive, LOL (like OMG custom apron with design by red_rahl, y/y?). If 50 people come, will we really be able to manage something for everyone?

Artists donated some sketches (OMG, I got one and was soooo excited). The prizes were a mix of things, so a few rather nice things with other less expensive things could work out to be a lot.

Some of acromantular's wands also made great door prizes.

I have a bunch of rainbow lightning bolt stickers for goody bags, and mijan is volunteering to make a simple wand to add to the door prizes. Also, count me in for the stuffing party on Wednesday. I can also take care of some sort of numbered thingies for door prizes/raffle/whateverthefuckwewannacallit again, as that was fun.

Ooooooh, neato. Both sound A+++ -- the stickers and Mijan being awesome and making a wand for the door prize thingy. Wednesday night will definitely be fun -- we can get some snacks, etc. and set up an assembly line or something :D

Yup! That's pretty much what we did last time. It worked well and was a fun way to get together from the get-go. Got a few lurker/n00bies out of their shells early on, too.

Hey, who you calling a lurker/n00bie?

I have yet to come up with any ideas to contribute to the goody bags, but I will certainly volunteer for assembly duty.

(Seeing as Fi likes us lurkers to come out of our shells, and all. ;-) *hugs*)

Hee! I was going to poll our carpool and see what we can put together for goody bags, and maybe a door prize or two. Looks like Sarah has now confirmed attendance, so we may have a fifth again!

No, I think she's found alternate transportation, because she's going there a day earlier than us. She and Tracy are doing a Supernatural stalking tour. They're going to be in the room with acromantular and I once we arrive though.
