I know I haven't posted in a while. Here are some things I want to discuss.

First, I want to say how annoyed I am by Microsoft right now. Sure, the Dashboard update has brought some cool features like the ability to create a bio for your Gamertag. However, it has also brought something much less pleasent: Advertisements. At random intervals, roughly 1/4 of each Dashboard blade is taken up by an ad for something or other. Now, it would already be hard to stomach if they had to do this to those with free Silver accounts to increase revenues. However, I have a Gold account! Why should I have to put up with this if I am already paying $50 a year, Mircrosoft?

Second, I want to talk about the Orange Box. First game I played on it was Portal. It wasn't as great as I expected it to be after hearing so much about it. The puzzles were all a bit too easy, and the game lasts for only six hours. Don't expect replay value either as you can pretty much memorize how to solve each puzzle once you've beaten the game for the first time. I will admit that the humor for the game was top-notch, and GLaDOS was one of the funniest characters I've ever seen in a video game. Besides, it was fun to just play around with the portals.

As for Half Life 2 and its two episodes, what can I say? It is one of the best FPS franchises ever, and I am glad that I have finally had a chance to play through it. Since I am not a PC gamer, I was previously only able to play the sub-par Xbox port of HL2. Thankfully, I can now play the whole set.

Team Fortress 2 was really the best part of the box. Like Portal, I had heard many good things about it. However, even I was suprised to find out how much fun class-based multiplayer can be (I didn't care for previous attempts in games like Call of Duty 2). For the record, my favorite class is the Heavy, but I also liked being the Soldier and Pyro (I have begun to refer to these three as the Gruesome Threesome).

Finally, I would just like to brag that I found a copy of the T2 Extreme DVD for $5 at the local Wal-Mart. I decided to get it as an early Christmas present for myself. I ought to be nice to myself this season after I've but up with so much of my crap and never complained. ;)
