[Slade shuts the door behind him when he arrives -- no point in allowing someone to interrupt, after all -- and walks up to the kid, casual as you please. His glance is sharp, however, and though he doesn't say it, he already knows Bruce is gone.]
[Of course he knows. And Tim knows he won't be celebrating like Crane. Tim is also fairly sure that most of his anger is centered on Bourne right now, but he misses Bruce. And that just feels dumb.
He looks over as Slade enters, nods to him - then he finishes a stretch, and waits - either for Slade to limber up, or attack.]
[To be honest, Slade's feelings on Bruce's departure are mixed. On the one hand, that's one less Bat breathing down his neck. On the other, he was one of the few who could truly match him as well as understand him.
He waits until the kid is done but doesn't bother stretching himself. He's already limber enough for this.
His face inscrutable, he contemplates Tim openly for about a minute. Then, without warning, he attacks, swift and violent. He won't be gentle, but anything less would be an insult.]

[It's exactly what Tim wanted out of this. He dodges, spins, aims a kick at Slade's side, already planning three steps ahead. It's silent, except for the sharp inhales and exhales that come with every jab and kick: Tim's going over that speech Bruce gave him, years ago. Don't fight angry.
It's hard to manage right now, because it's so easy to superimpose Bourne's face over Slade's, but he tries.]

[It's funny how it always comes back to this -- ironic even, how all the Bats have that tendency to take their frustrations out on him. It's because he can take it; he knows that. Sometimes he minds. Other times, he doesn't. This is just one instance where he doesn't. He did offer, after all.
His gaze sharp, if not calculating, he blocks as necessary, taking a few hits where he knows they won't matter. He's still stronger, faster, more resilient, and his strikes reflect that much though they're not as frequent.
At some point, he moves to ram his knee into Tim's gut and toss him. How successful that maneuver is will depend on Tim's determination.]

[There's a split second decision to go with it instead of dodge, and Tim throws himself into the toss, shifting so that the knee doesn't wind him. It hurts, but it lets him roll right to his feet and kick back and around, throwing himself back into the fight immediately. He's throwing punches harder, ungloved, hard enough that he's bruising his knuckles, but he doesn't pull back at all.]

[Determination. It's something the Bats have in spades, that much he knows. It's different somehow, seeing it in action, and he's reminded of it every time they cross paths. He wonders too, sometimes, when every light goes out and every sound ceases, when he is alone with his thoughts and no other, if things could have been different.
His stance doesn't change, a wall of strength and motion as he counters the other's blows. He's not trying to win; he's not even really trying to hurt the kid, just to wear him down.]

[Tim notices. He's fought enough people trying to kill him, he's studied Slade's fights enough that he knows when his life isn't on the line. He's pretty sure he's not even at risk for serious injury here, and he's fighting like he is. Tim tells himself that's because he knows Slade can take it, but he isn't sure. Part of him wants Slade to step up; part of him is grateful Slade's satisfied with just wearing him out. Part of him is really fucking suspicious with that.
He kicks, punches, watching for an opening, staying on the offensive, until his attacks come a fraction slower, a little more sluggish.]
